    Best idea for lumber rack I've seen so far. Simple and strong.

    You can even use 2 scrap pieces of Unistrut to mount a big tv on the wall, no need to buy the stupidly expensive mounts they try to shove you on the store, this material is amazingly useful .

    Great build! I love unistrut. The only addition I made when I did mine was to use a wire shelf rack so that I could store pieces that are shorter than the span between two supports. Also allows me to store cutoffs in any direction. Low cost, low weight, allows good airflow, doesn't collect dust.

    Really enjoyed this video. Great job with editing, and you're great with speaking. You're talk quickly, get to the point, have a lot of personality, and explain things clearly without being wordy. Just my 2 cents. Thanks

    Unistrut is great stuff, I typically use the Milwaukee cordless mini porta-band to cut through it.

    Excellent!! I got worried when you dropped the second end cap… it looked like your head was close to whacking the bottom support! Anyway, I’m designing a ladder rack and appreciate your build. I’m going to use your ideas. Instead of using the caps, I’m going to heat shape pvc around the length with a 90degree bend at the end and secure from the bottom. Thanks for posting

    Very good video! I've been looking into how unistrut is used because of a project I've got going on and this was very informative and very well done. I'll have to check out your other stuff.

    I just got some unistrut that was going to be recycled and I realized my options are endless. Probably going to do this and mount some to the rafter and put a little wheel in it so I can mount my bike and move it around.

    John, nice video! Why did you choose to put the brackets above each horizontal strut?

  • @tomprovan50
    @tomprovan503 жыл бұрын

    could you make the horizon piece 4 feet with the l bracket I want to use is for an elevator platform with not diagonal supports. And can you add one underneath and one on the side and one l bracket on the top of the strut?

  • @WorkLoops
    @WorkLoops6 ай бұрын

    Great design and I will definitely implement it in my garage. I might invert the horizontal pieces so that bracket and bolts are on the bottom and the whole width of the top is smooth. Any reason not to do that? Thanks, Jim

    Great work! Is there any benefit to having the L bracket above the horizontal piece versus having it below?

  • @dlmm2645

    Is there a reason why you would mount the brackets above instead below a strut? Do you have a general idea or website about the carry load calculations?

    Are there brackets that you could attach if you ran the rails horizontal instead of vertical? It might make more sense to run them horizontal to have the ability to adjust the shelves width vs height? Great video thank you.

  • @joshportelli

    Thats also a neat idea, since you probably know what height you want them. Or you could run a grid both ways for best of both worlds.

    if they ever study me to see whats wrong with me they will list unistrut as one of the symtoms . i love the stuff. i must have 50 unistrut brackets in my workshop, its cheaper than most decent shelf brackets and way stronger.

    What's your horizontal spacing between brackets? So how much weight do you reckon each angle bracket could take? I'm planning on doing this with slotted 41×21mm. 3ft between brackets, do you think it'll hold 200kg?

  • @micahwatson9017

    Ok so I have a wired pool table light above my 9 foot pool table. I wanna get a ping pong top to play ping pong too but light is in the way.. I was thinking of adding a plug to the light and connect it to thoese retractable extension cords. The retractable extension cord will be plug in into garahe ceiling outlet...then I wanted to mount light on two unistrut rails with a trolley to move it out of the way whenever we wanted to play ping pong. Can this be done and do you think it will work?? Basically wanna move pool table light back and forth when playing pool or ping pong..that's why I wanna get the retractable extension cord so it can retract when rolling light out of the way to play ping pong or move it back to play pool

    Well, apart for being an infomercial for Unistrut this is a good video. It is good stuff though and I said as much to our local agent just the other day. Why is it available in Home Depot in the US but not in Bunnings here in Oz? Stupid! EU60 for 3M sounds a bit rich. Maybe EU60 for 6M eh? I paid AU$60 for 6M. That works out at under EU37. Did I hear you say the wall screws are 2 inches of 10? Now that is mixing your Imp & SI ;-)

    Quick question Tom, I’ve a shed metal frame like yours which I had built this year. It has non drip roof cladding but this winter I’ve had a lot of problems with condensation falling from the skylights. I was wondering is this an issue in your shed. I’m an industrial electrician also and a keen fan of unistrut 👍👍

    My man, why the hell do you have so few views on this video? Video quality is good, Information is organized, Editing is fine, Audio is clear (aside from your thick ass accent 😄) I suppose the speed up portion could have been a bit faster and could have done without your breathing during the process, but wtf? Seems like you should have gotten a LOT more activity. It must be a lack of understanding of youtube algorithms and, maybe, thumbnails, I guess? I dont know man, I wish I knew. Nice video though, thank you for the content 🤠

    No face shield with the angle grinder on metal is asking for a bruising, and not clamping down the material being cut, wtf.
