Luke Martin is back again to try out Taiwan’s Top 5 teas and tea-infused products! Join in with actress Patty Lee as she takes Luke on a tour of Taipei’s tea culture. And don’t worry, it goes much deeper than just bubble tea!
Although Canadian KZreadr Luke Martin is a coffee drinker at heart, he decides to give Taiwan’s teas a try to see what he’s been missing. The foodie follows actress Patty Lee to a high-end tea house in Taipei, where he samples Oriental Beauty tea in a traditional Taiwanese tea ceremony. The pair then mixes the old with the new by trying out Taiwanese tieguanyin tea cocktails that incorporate tea liquor, a new twist on the classic beverage.
For the next stop, Patty and Luke learn about kombucha, a fermented tea beverage that promotes gut health due to its high concentration of probiotics. As they sip their kombucha, Patty shares how she got into the acting business, as well as some of her current projects. The pair then heads to Maokong in Taipei, where they take the Maokong gondola to a tea house in the mountains. There, they enjoy some of the most interesting dishes of the day: a tea-infused egg omelet paired with tieguanyin tea steamed buns.
Despite the global obsession with boba and bubble tea, Luke Martin discovers the drink really only scratches the surface of Taiwan’s tea culture. There are so many more refined and innovative dishes to choose from when visiting Taiwan. When it comes to tea, there really is something here for everyone.
