I saw Supreme Queen live at the Billingham Forum, it was a smashing concert and Luke does really good at playing May's parts! Great rundown!

I’m a guitarist based out of New York City. It’s 1 Sept., 2023. Ever since the time of the pandemic lockdown, I have been curious if it is possible to build a guitar to the specifications of the Red Special but equipped with a different type of pickups, soapbar P90s. People have said the cavities of the body would need to be modified. How true is that? You see, I’ve long wanted an instrument that has the tunnel possibilities of the Red Special, but directly emulating Brian‘s tone was never part of my aesthetic pursuit. Also, I decided in the summer of 2019 to have a guitar assembled for me out of Stratocaster parts, one of which was a scratch plate loaded with mini Trisonics. Admittedly, I was real “turned on” by the pickup and phase cancellation switching but somewhat underwhelmed by their output. And, instead of a signal chain including or emulating the AC30 and a treble booster, my signal chain includes a simulated JC120 and a distortion/sustainer unit meant to emulate the Boston distortion tone.

Thank you, @@TheRedSpecialGuitarPodcast. As of this comment, I have been considering getting done of those Sears replicas that were built by Greco in the 80s. If .I decide to get it and decide that it fits the bill, so be it. Otherwise, I might pick up where I left off here. I would probably have somebody take a chisel to the pickup cavities to make room for the ones I’d prefer to have, knowing that P90s are physically wider than TriSonics.
I'm looking for a new amp, but what type of vox ac30 do you use?

I just don't get it; that is such a personal thing - Brian May's Red Special coupled with the AC30s. I can't imagine mugging someone of such a personal and timeless thing.
