Luke Skywalker’s journey in the original trilogy is one of the greatest, if not greatest journeys ever put to film. His arc as a farm boy on Tatooine, wanting to leave home and do something more with his life to becoming a Jedi Knight who redeems his father and helps save the galaxy is always fantastic to watch unfold from beginning to end. Also, Luke Skywalker is George Lucas’s self insert into his own Space Opera epic and wanted to ensure that the character faces as many obstacles as possible in order to ensure the journey would be worth seeing unfold to see how he over comes the various obstacles that comes their way.
