Sadly as much of a mavs fan I am, and love Luka. The mvp award will go to jokic because he shoots st 70% from the floor while getting 27 ppl 13 rebounds and 9 assists. Not that I want him to win it more than Luka but the shooting % is what will determine the mvp award this year

Luka this season 1st in PPG 16th RPG top 15 all bigs 2nd APG 9th in steals per game 2nd in 3 pointers made 4th in minutes per game 4th in PER 5th in win shares 2nd box plus/minus 2nd in VORP 1st in usage % 3rd in triple doubles 73 point game 73/10/7 75.8%shooting 61.5% from 3 on 13 attempts 93.8% from the line on 16 attempts Only 1 lineup the entire season with over 100 minutes due to injuries and inconsistent play. When they found a good lineup it has been the best in basketball.

He definitely added another layer to the game of bball. Up and coming stars will be using progressive deceleration. Seems like defensive approaches can handle extreme acceleration and speed but don’t know how to handle progressive deceleration.

If you look at all the greats players with the same time in the NBA he is ahead of them. If he play long enough and stays healthy. He will be #1. Everyone talk about curry now and his hitting all ranges. He was not doing it as well as Luka is now.

Yes he is the most complete player ever offensively i said before this season started Luka is a great shooter if hes in shape at least 38% from 3 whats crazy is that hes only 25 and just entering his prime he can only get better and he will age like a fine wine since his game don't rely on speed and athleticism he will average 30+ 10 straight years and retire in his prime 10 years from now cuz he will be as good at 35 as he is now if not better

And these are just the plays where they made the basket and got the assist. There are a ton more where Luka made the spectacular pass and somebody blew the shot or was fouled. Luka’s best blown assists would make a great highlight reel.

You have to say this era because of the openness of the court now compared to when MJ played. Back then only 1 or 2 players could shoot 3 pointers on a team. Now that every player can do it the defense is spread out. 2 completely styles of games. If MJ played today he numbers where be higher.

Curry 2016: 34.3 mpg 30 PPG 6.7 assists per game 67% true shooting Luka 2024: 37.5 mpg 34 PPG 9.8 assists per game 62% true shooting Curry is a bit more efficient in scoring but Luka has him beat in terms of volume, playmaking and passing. Luka also generates more offense than Curry per minute. Luka with 3 more assists and 4 more points in an extra 3 minutes suggests Luka has the better offensive season. Sure you can hang on to Curry's efficiency but I would say the gap isn't big enough to make up for the volume difference. Luka also attempts more absurd shots like half court heaves at the end of quarters which brings down his efficiency. Overall, they're nearly equally good scorers but Luka is by far the better facilitator.

Top 2 Scorer (him or embiid) in the league and Top 2 Playmaker (him or jokic) in ONE player. Luka something different this yr 😂

Luka saved basketball for me. I am a 32 year old, I grew up here in north tx about 30 min from Dallas for most of my life. Dirk was my hero for my childhood and won a championship when I was 18 years old. It was the most magical thing I had ever experienced in sports. Dirk meant everything to me, especially as a German. My dad moved here at 18 from Germany so we were massive fans of Dirk. I feared I wouldn’t have the same fandom after Dirk and that there would be a basketball void in my heart. And then we drafted Luka. And slowly but surely I saw potential that I’ve never personally seen before. Could it be we drafted dirks perfect spiritual successor in the final years of his career? We did! I am so grateful, I don’t care what national media says. Luka will get his just like Dirk did, and he probably won’t be appreciated until way later just like Dirk. Luka saved basketball for me!

the past few years I would get frustrated when he pass it off late in the game and the basket had a lid on it. This year the team are finishing the plays so he is more trusting. That his team mates will get the score when he passes it. Before if he wanted to make sure they got the point he would do it himself. He is not that much scoring more then last year. The team around him is finishing the play more. So he is looking to make the more difficult pass. Kyrie has really open up the court for Luka and the passing lanes.

Definitely best passer maybe not best offensive player yet (yet)
