The reality is that the SNES has a very limited color palette for sprites. Instead of creating new sprites for Luigi, they simply used Mario's sprite and changed the red colors to green.

Perhaps luigi is perfectly fine living a nice life and just sends guigi to do his work. Especially if Luigi has a massive mansion and lots of money from the Luigi's mansion series. Suggesting the Luigi's mansion games are the only ones where the real Luigi has to fight bad guys for real since it was when he was vulnerable. But it is possible gooigi was being a double body for Luigi in dark moon. But he was almost certainly present in Luigi 's mansion 3.

Interesting! I think a lot of us often wonder where all the coins and riches the Mario Bros accumulate goes after their adventures. Luigi using his fortune to basically outsource dangerous and stressful adventures to Gooigi instead makes sense!

Maybe Nintendo's just hinting that there is multiple timelines and the timeline that you're talking about

It's because the sprites used for the coloring of their outfits were the same as their "blood" and they forgot to fix it before release

Game expanation: the color palette for Mario’s hat is the same as his eye shading when he dies. Since Luigi’s sprite is Mario’s with a different color palette, his shading appears green.

That Luigi covered in green blood is actually beta Luigi, the Luigi who failed to save his brother.

Correction: The “bEtA gAmE oVeR sCrEeN” for Luigi’s Mansion you speak of was never intended to be a Game Over screen and thus was never used as such in any of the builds of the game leading up to the release. It was simply used as the ending of the SpaceWorld 2000 and E3 2001 trailers to entice people to play the game.

I believe at some point in, I think one of the games, Luigi is shown dying, as a green pool starts moving towards him.

Today I learned that the sprite looks towards the camera in shock. I always thought they were looking upwards screaming to the sky.

Actual explanation: Old video game consoles could only put a few colors on screen in one area at a time. For example, let’s say you could only place three colors in a 16x16 set of pixels. So, they had to get creative. For mario, the red on his hat is also the color of the shadow on his skin. For luigi, they had to do the same thing. Hence, there is “green blood” simply because the console would not let them add the color red.

Its because he's a pallet swap. Marios face turns red. His clothes are also red. So the face would turn green too.

I see he chose the option where it was “make random stuff up but try to make it look as convincing as possible”.

Luigi is just Luigi. There's no Gooigi possessing him. Though all of the evidence is shown in the video, the game over screen was fake. It was removed because it was found too dark and there was never boogers or that coming out of his eyes and nose. They just set Luigi as a Mario but everything red is green

Fun fact: in Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World: Luigi’s sprite is changed to make Luigi look less like he was just a Green Mario, this included his death sprite, which both removes his green goo, and also makes it obvious that his hat’s shadow is on his face

blushing is triggered by blood surfacing through our cheeks, a thin flesh that covers your facial features, which were to be triggered by strong emotions, may it be surprise, distress, etc. and as for why is it red when our cheeks blush... is because our blood is red. since luigi went pale the moment the large banzai bill hits him, it probably had triggered his distress, which fluctuates his blood pressure. i assume his blood was green, because his blush is green. They did swap Mario’s color in the original Super Mario World as they just palate swapped Mario to look like Luigi which also carried over to Luigi’s death pose where the red palate is used for Mario’s tongue Luigi’s palate Re colors his tongue and in later versions of Super Mario World like the one in Super Mario Allstars they added sprites of Luigi in the game and I think recode him a bit
