Man that play at 1:22 is so special, because he understood the scouting report and used it to his advantage. Harden drives left to the lane, he has the advantage, Dort knows he's going to initiate contact to avoid a contest at the rim, so he backs off before harden can put his body into him allowing him to go for the clean block. Elite defensive IQ, extremely rare let alone the fact its a G league Rookie doing it 🔒

Holy crap. That last play where the Rockets threw three screens at him and he fought through all of them and still forced the miss. This guy is special.

Shooting 40+% from 3 and 50% from the corners this season so far. I know it's a small sample but his shooting has vastly improved and he has always been able to attack a close out and finish.

He’s getting better on his 3’s but defense still very consistent. But in my opinion he will always be underrated

2:40 the way he immediately hides his hands after the contest. Wow. He’s always on. My new fave player🌟

People don't realize when you do all that dribbling between the legs you give the defender time to lock on to you.

Kevin Clendenen struggled in games 2 and 7 tho, 5-16 in game 2, 4-15 in game 7

This series made him known by everyone. I was already impressed on his defense on James Harden when I saw it before. I think that was on January. I remember that I'm one of the first people requesting from this channel to make defensive highlights of him but that was so early that time. He hasn't played a lot of games. Glad to see him getting a lot of recognition now.

Just look at how Dort is built, like a linebacker. You could see how much he takes pride in his defense, how unfazed he is and the determination to shut down Harden at every instance.

The fucking dude went undrafted. OKC front office lowkey has OKC of the best drafting staff. Shai, Dort are the future. And they also have 1 million picks & one of the best rookie training camps in the game. Speaks volume about that young franchise.

I think that little while after the Capela trade that the rockets were playing “micro-ball” will always be one of my favorite teams I got to watch live. Was pretty cool seeing them all buy in the way they did and go out there and compete hard enough to be considered legitimate title contenders for a while. One of the more unique teams we’ve seen.

Who’s watching this during the 2021 season and him being a god.

Can deffo have an Andre Iguodala career and possibly a Kawhi type of career if he develops a sweet and consistent jumper like 60% from mid and 37% from 3, plus he has one of the greatest Mid Range scorer on his team in CP3 plus CP3 the greatest at scoring the elbow mid range which we see Kawhi uses a lot, plus his slashing game already good due to his amazing physique just need to add in some post spins and creative drives like euro steps and etc, the Kid definitely has bright future

The fact that he can move that muscular frame around screens so quickly is kinda crazy

He’s the only player in the league that can consistently stay in front of harden and consistently contest those step backs

When done right, defense becomes more exciting than offense

We need more of these defensive highlights!

Man he has quick feet. Never overcommitted, just straight forward smart defense

Dort played textbook defense. He stayed crouched over in a defensive stance to maintain his balance, kept his hands busy and moved his feet. He never "opens up" his body to allow Harden to drive or shoot over him.

0:44 hes not gifted at defending, he just puts his heart and effort into it more than other players because he has a chip on his back. Defense isn't jus a skill, passion has a lot involved.

He is a really good defender and his offense is a thing that will come later. That showing in game 7 tells us he has it in him

I just noticed he refuses to go right he had so many opportunities to explode with the right hand. I would say this was the last time we saw James Harden writing this from three years after it was posted he has not been good since he left the Rockets his counter to being stopped going left is to go further left had he sent him into one screen going, right with an In-N-Out or just drove right off his signature cross over he would’ve had many points. Dort was going for every move if you care to see what I mean slow it down to .25

No disrespect he is doing a terrific job staying between ball and basket. But he has help behind him which is why James couldn’t drive, as well as the fact unlike most younger players he is very disciplined and does not reach very much. There aren’t too many guys that solid in the league and play straight up without gambling and putting in the effort to fight through screens. Makes you a lot tougher mentally than switching, shows a level of competitiveness on the other end something that is missing from this era. Used to be a few guys on the team simply to stagger star production. This kid will have a long career and earn a great rep if he bleeds this into his next campaigns
