Great song, aggravating boss. Any future gens who read this, do one of these two strats: --> Cast Mirror on everyone immediately. Then just keep alternating Mirror casts on everyone when finished. Even if it's still on them, it will just reapply the effect. Then melee attack with the two men til it dies. --> Alternatively, get the weakest bow in the game on the Elf chick and use equipment that raises speed but lowers her physical attack (just don't let her attack go above 200). Then cast magic resistance (Protect) every other turn with Lufia. Then cast the healing buffs with Elf (Jerin). When people get confused, attack your party with Jerin, it will deal only about 15 - 20 damage but every will lose confusion. Then heal up and keep casting magic resist. When no one is confused, The men keep melee attacking and when every has full health, buff the attack power or debuff the defense of the boss with one of the girls.

I ended up giving up on casting mirror on Lufia. Mirror seemed to wear off slightly more frequently than i had time to cast it on 3 people and it was more important to prevent the guys from one-shotting party members when confused. In the same vein, you could kill off 2 members and constantly cycle mirror on the remaining pair for a guaranteed victory. Pretty irritating boss design. I heard the Japanese version had more attacks.

Apparently Guard Daos has attacks from all three of the component Sinistrals in the Japanese version, but due to either an unexplained decision or a programming error, the only special move he ever uses in the North American version is Figual (the confuse-all attack).

@@ragnaroktomorrow I went Jerin, Lufia (she was doing 700+ damage with Thunder) and Main. I can recover quickly with Aguro confused.

@@Desparil he could cast Flood (which was weak). The only spell he couldn’t cast was the Thunder-All

Amazing final boss song.

The soundtrack was almost "too" good for the game. Don't get me wrong, Lufia is a decent JRPG, I rented it a lot back in the day, but this music elevates it to a level that is beyond what it should be.

Well said, the graphics and user interface were way behind its time, and some of the game's programming is really archaic (the music resetting when going to a new dungeon area for example), but I think the music and story were both exceptional and served to elevate the game into a full-blown series.

yeah i rented it a lot too, i remember fridays in 1st grade being so fuckin awesome cause I was about to rent this or Rise of the Sinistrals. this final boss theme stands out, but I prefer the ost for Rise as a whole.

This song takes me right back. I kept trying to keep Mirror on everyone with Jerin while hacking away and casting Thunder with Lufia.

Beating this game for the first time just a few years ago in my late 20's that was pretty much my strategy as well. Anything else was just suicide, and the struggle to keep those Mirrors up, and the stress every time one would fade made it one of the most intense final boss fights of any RPG I've ever played.

This boss literally made me cry when I was 10. Until I figured out how to exploit mirror, it just kept kicking my butt.

the first time I reached this boss, it took me such a while to beat. always reviving my allies and casting magic attacks. even with all my characters at the maximum level, this boss was challenging. but I beat the game nonetheless.

Maxim and selan is not the parents of the hero in this game, since its 100 years after the final fight with the sinistrals

​@@FS-cl3wo You're correct! Adding on, Maxim and Selan would be the great great great grandparents. Jeros is Maxim and Selan's child. The only person that would come close to playable as Maxim's child is Eldin, which isn't even related, just an adult 20 years later.

lol 3x great? they having babies at like 13 each generation? remember,.. guy was still alive in Lufia,... like 120 years old and still able to fight lol. I was under the impression that maxim's kid was the father of the main character in lufia 1. could be wrong.

I remember when I first played this game, I named the main character Maxim and that was a very big mistake as a lot of the dialogue became confusing with which Maxim they were talking about

wonder if that was a us version glitch. since the usa ver of lufia 2 has a bunch of glitches. More likely a programming error I guess. shame. this game has a better final boss than 2.

AS long as Erim lived, the Sinistrals could never fully be destroyed, so... yeah, her sacrifice made big sense
