I think the moment Garp gets berated by the soldiers is underrated. Someone as high as a Vice Admiral getting scolded and told to do manual labor by he lowest level grunts, and not only takes it but agrees to it, shows how truly humble he is and how comfortable the soldiers are around him. Way different than Morgan or, to a lesser degree, Smoker. And they were only Captains when they were introduced.

yep very similar to luffys dynamic with his crew where hes captain but doesnt really pull the rank card on them and even follows nami and zoros ideas and only really steps up command wise when its necessary

Pretty sure Garp can rival Akainu. He is THE hero of the navy, and could match Whitebeard/Roger. And since Whitebeard is stronger than Akainu, then Garp is too. Maybe aside from Sengoku, Garp is the most powerful Navy asset, yet does manual labor after being scolded by grunts. Legend.

@@brandonwithnell612 What I love about this dynamic is that Luffy absolutely pulls the rank card at times but always when it matters and not out of ego...Nami starting to cry as she realises none of her concerns matter to the captain who saw the most dangerous route and got that glimpse in his eyes. Luffy knowing when to be captain and when to be silly is unironically the reason why his words as captain bear incredible weight

Garp might only be a vice admiral, but in his prime, he's definitely stronger than the admirals and he can rival Roger's power

Grandpa's a Navy Vice Admiral. Daddy's the leader of the Revolutionary Army. Brother is the second division commander of the Whitebeard pirates and his mentor/idol is one of the Four Emperors. Luffy is indeed goated.
