Two very good singers. Personaly I prefer the soft, warm, powerful,feminine voice of Lucy.

Lucy Thomas is the new kid on the block and she has staked her claim as the new standard for performing this song. Producing that level of quality vocalisation as an encore at the end of her first public professional concert says it all. Lucy is a performer to be reckoned with and in time, she will tour the world for all to hear and see first hand. Next cab off the rank is Tokyo on 8th September. Hi Jeff Both very good renditions of this classic song But for me its got to be Lucy She has such beautiful voice in this song she shows her power the richness of her voice and her perfect vibrato and her breath control is just amazing. Lucy´s Studio version when she was 16 was out of this world but this one is even better. Thanks for supporting Lucy.

NOW THAT IS MUSIC! Two wonderful sweet toned powerful voices. Both with range to spare, always on pitch, and never shrill. KD made this ode beautiful. Sadly time never stops and i think she has retired. This is Lucy's first live public performance at 20 years old. She is a force and on her path. Hey brother I was blown away by KDs version. I expected Lucy to be awesome because I’ve reacted to her many times But KD’s approach to this cover really took me by surprise. I’m sorry she’s retired. I will go back now and investigate her catalog Thanks Jeff great suggestion!!

Thanks for this reaction! Enjoyed it. I had not heard the KD version before - absolutely a great and very smooth voice but did not really enjoy the flow or cadence of the song nearly as much. To me Lucy's version of this is just stunning and something I could listen to on a loop. Just 2 very different versions of the same song, (some different lyrics). Lucy is the new standard. She now claims the best studio version title of this song and the best live version as well. Thx!!

Hello Jeff, Barbara here, well what an amazing Anothercoverlover of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah " the King or should I say the Queen, versus the Great Pretender, KD Lang, is just so amazing she bosses the stage her voice is so exceptional, what a great cover of this amazing song. Then you have Lucy Thomas singing live in her live public concert, again an amazing young Lady with such a superb voice, her cover was so different from KD's cover yet it was still so amazing & powerful & her voice is just so good & she kills it as well. Lucy hands down. Much more beautiful voice. KD is great but doesn’t have the trained voice that Lucy does.

I thought both did an amazing job. I think it’s really a difference in style I could certainly see the training that Lucy has had. Her version was certainly not as loose as KD’s. But I enjoyed KD for that very reason. She seemed so relaxed!! Thanks for watching and responding Jimi!

Great reaction Jeff, how could you not like both versions of this amazing song. I haven't heard the KD version before but i have to say she does a great job. Having said that, Lucy's version is the one that will be on my playlist. Her voice does things to me which no other voice ever has.

Two great performances, just pick your favorite, there are no winners and losers here. We are the winners to be able to hear these ladies. Been a fan of KD for years , the things she can do with her voice are amazing. Give her duet with Roy Orbison " Crying " a listen. Young Lucy here is the best I have ever heard her. Sometimes I think her studio videos are too controlled, here she is given room and she grabs it and lets her voice shine. Your comments on Leonard are spot on.

Although I was familiar with KD Lang, I never heard her sing Hallelujah until just now. It was quite an emotional performance by her, so I have to say wow. This was the song that introduced me to Lucy several years ago, so it has a special place in my heart for her. I enjoyed both immensely.

Lucy's voice is lovely. She sings the song. KD Lang is the song. That was a special performance. The crowd gave back all the respect and love. They tried to do this again, for the Olympics and it was way too long and took the warmth away.

You’re one of the few commenters that agrees with me! I love LT’s voice and presentation and anyone who watches this channel knows that. On this song however, KD Lange really owned. In fact, after Leonard Cohen heard KD’s cover, I’ve been told he said about this song “give the song to her, she owns it now” (I paraphrase) Thank you Jack!

Sydnie absolutely floored me. One of the reactors stripped the music from her performance, and she was pitch perfect on every note. And the best part was how funny she was until she put her game face on just before singing.

I have heard both of these versions but, as Leonard Cohen himself said of K.D. Lang's version "it's her song It stands out over all others. Lucy's version is nice but not in the same stratosphere. Thank you for sharing both.
