Heck, I would even think of Jennifer Hudson before remembering that Barbra Streisand as well as Barry Manilow also recorded this song shortly after the amazingly successful launch of Cats (both on Broadway and in the West End).

I just discovered this talented singer...and only 15 at this time. She has talent...raw talent; but a diamond in the rough. The audience need to be reigned in, but the TV show let's them be à nuisance because they feel that it raises ratings. Perfect example of stupidity by the show's producers. Now back to Lucy. She is young and inexperienced and it shows. How? You have to listen to practically the only one who has sung this piece with utter perfection. That singer is Elaine Page! Memories is a song of pain. Of angst, and despair. A song of feelings of defeat and resignation, that in spite of such, one still fights the inevitable demise of spirit and pride; knowing full well that you have been discarded, and relegated to insignificance by life in old age. Elaine Paige brought out the pain and torment of her soul in how she sang it, and in the tones she used for the song. You feel the anguish that torments her, and her disputing the reality of her fate. She will not go gentle into the dying of her light. Lucy did not do this. Her voice and timbre and tone did not convey any challenge to the end. She has the talent. Let us see where she takes it. Singers need to adapt to the circumstances of certain songs. It's not just about a pretty and wonderful voice. They need to evoke the emotions that the words wish to tap.

Yes, Lucy Thomas, of Wigan, Lancashire, is perfection. Headed for Superstardom! She is 3 years older than this Lucy. She was on The Voice Kids UK in 2018.

Patricia Snyder Barbra made it far more popular. Like if some1 sings I Will Always Love You they write by Whitney Houston despite its written and originally recorded by Dolly Parton.

Barbra Striesand covered this song, BUT IT IS NOT "BY" her. It is by Sir Trevor Nunn (lyrics) & Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber (music) for the musical, "Cats"! I wish the producers at VK-UK would avoid picking clowns to write these inane & innacurate titles and notations! BTW -- Lucy sang this beautifully IMHO. *_R_*

Robert Hudson The point is that the girl used Streisand’s version for her audition. However, Streisand’s version is the first I ever heard, having never seen the musical or heard music from it.

This song was composed by ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER and is part of the CATS musical. Barbra Streisand has nothing to do with it. She is ONLY one in hundreds who sang it someday.

I am a big fan of Lucy Thomas as well, but it isn't quite fair to compare a studio production with the nerve wrecking situation at a blind audition. (... and this Lucy is two years younger than the other Lucy :D)

Not really so good to high and becomes yelling, this beautiful song got distroyed like this way. Come back after few years after sangclasses
