Lucy 50 Monthly Lecture Series-Anne Stone PhD

Join ASU Institute of Human Origins researchers in 2024 for a year-long “master class” in human origins research as they illuminate the many facets of how we “became human” and what that means for the future of humans on the planet.
Anne Stone
What does ancient DNA tells us about human adaptation?
Ancient DNA has provided many surprising insights into recent human evolutionary history. Among these are the discoveries of archaic “Denisovans,” multiple admixture events among late Pleistocene humans, and the remnants of archaic human DNA in our own genomes. These genomic analyses also help us understand how humans have adapted to new environments, major dietary shifts, and novel pathogens over time. IHO geneticist Anne Stone will discuss how we know what we know and what the challenges are for ancient DNA researchers.
