This movie is criminally underrated. For some reason so many people simply refused to get on board with the premise of a SCIENCE FICTION MOVIE because that's not actually how the brain works. I knew so many people that couldn't get past that while having absolutely no issue with far more outlandish premises in other movies. Perhaps the theming of anchoring it to reality and the nature cutaways brought that on, but I really couldn't understand that backlash.

Love Luc Besson films. Maybe not so much Valerian but that's a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. It's wild to think that this movie made $469M at the box office off a $40M budget. I have the steel book to this Le Femme Nikita, The Professional and The Fifth Element. I haven't found one for From Paris With Love but that's another criminally underrated film, IMO.

This movie shows us we ARE life itself. We're not just living in the universe, we ARE the universe. Lucy becoming "everywhere" is about realizing this deep connection. When we learn about history or evolution, we're really just discovering our own past. We're not separate from Earth or the cosmos - it's all one connected thing. What people call "god" is the universe itself, which includes all of us. It's one thing to think about this, but actually feeling that connection would be a whole different experience.

Sad because Limitless came out at least a couple of years prior and did more with a similar concept and didn't feel the need to stretch into "controlling other people/matter" territory, which is what turned a lot of people off of Lucy. The beginning and the setup and the cinematography is great...until she becomes a wizard. Then you're either on board with the silly or...you're not. Lucy could have been a great gender-flipped scenario of Limitless, where she is instead a victim whereas Bradley was a willing participant.

It's not always because of the reasons you clearly want it to be, but if you find evidence of "the people funding" (those are called producers, by the way) withdrawing their funding because they were incapable of finding a single Asian female even passably interested in the role that would bring in ANY money (which also implies ScarJo is...bigger than every female asian star?), even if that were the case, it implies the film did not have a lot going for it.

This movie is about evolution, what we are capable to become. One of the biggest liberties this movie took was that there's too much electricity generated in connecting neurons for our current form to handle. Our heads would literally catch fire, but it's ScarJo so we'll let it slide since her skull would have to drastically change to be able to hold all of that electricity. Whoever commented saying we use 100% of brain is only a little correct. We use 100% but 10%, on average, at a time. See prior statement as to why we can't use more %. Our brains are made to evolve. Check out Neural Pruning. Humans are born with hundreds of millions of more neurons than we have as an adult. This allows a new being the ability to adapt to its surroundings as quickly as possible for survival. Once the brain realizes which neurons have not been used, it starts to shed/eliminate the excess of neurons so the brain can function with more efficiency. This process is called Neural Pruning and ends around the age of 6. On the basis of this known and thoroughly researched process, one could hypothesize what the full capability of the human brain could be if more areas were stimulated before the end of the Neural Pruning process. But this knowledge has not been shared effectively enough. "Humans are more concerned with having than being."

People have a hard time grasping or accepting that mathematics are not reality. They are a convention, a language we decided would be used to try to describe reality, therefore drastically reducing it to an understandable superficial and simple form. So Terrence claiming that 1 + 1 doesn't equal 2 is just a proposal for a new set of conventions allowing us to better understand the universe and with that, to reach a new level in evolution (according to him of course).

The beauty of this film is that it can be inaccurate, filled with speculation and wild abandon - it is in itself an exercise in experience, a muscle workout for the imagination of the viewer. One thing which stops some people enjoying movies like this is by not surrendering to the distinction between science fiction and science fantasy. There can even be, as with this movie, a blurring of the lines. Those aspects of movies which fail science fact can do so because of lazy writing but at times the reach for a feeling can produce some wild art. This movie, along with a few in my own personal collection, falls into such a category.

Hi Nikki and Steven! This is one of my all time favourite movies. So underrated... and i love your reactions as you ask 'wtf is going on?' I would describe it as a very unique movie. Nothing else like it. Can you imagine watching this in the cinema when it first came out in 2014? ... an absolutely amazing experience!

This is also based on what we think we would be capable of as we reach these levels. But, one thing to understand is that we become less human with each level, too.

When this came out I was watching it and the hotel in Taipei was very familiar. It was filmed in the Regent Taipei. I'd only stayed there a couple of times a few years before the movie came out. Very swanky part of Taipei (back then anyway). It was for work so I wasn't paying the bills.... Nice to watch a movie and recognise somewhere real you've been to.

Awesome movie to watch stoned for sure. At 90% you become I guess a 4th or 5th dimensional being, a true master of SpaceTime, able to travel through time and anywhere in space, cool how it showed that. First she teleported around Earth, then she stopped Time for herself, and started swiping left to go to the past. Then she took a trip in Space through the galaxies.

this has been a favorite of mine since I first saw it.... Lucy, because of that drug, was able to access 100% of her brain capacity, so she could control not only herself, but everything else... the animal moments are to show the parallel between her and the predator world... she was being stalked, chased and captured... but when the CPH4 gives her powers, then she uses it to get back at the drug dealers. Be sure to listen to the song at the end credits... it answers the question of what Lucy becomes... love your channel!

Not many other people were there at the time, I don't remember what time the showing was or day. I think the call was a setup situation lol. Anyway, I got to see a movie I enjoyed and didn't pay for it.

During this time, Scarlett Johansson starred in some incredible films, including *Under the Skin* (2013), *Her* (2013), and of course, *Lucy* (2014). *Lucy* is a wildly imaginative film by Luc Besson, who has been known for creating powerful female lead roles starting with *La Femme Nikita* (1990), *Léon: The Professional* (1994) with a young Natalie Portman, *The Fifth Element* (1997), and *The Lady* (2011) starring Michelle Yeoh, based on the true story of Aung San Suu Kyi, among many others. *Lucy* is a highly underrated movie because it does not follow conventional narrative structures. We follow Lucy, a good person who made some questionable decisions but ultimately became a force for good, gaining near-deity-like abilities by the end. Some argue that we didn’t get enough of her characterization, but we were given enough of her humanity before she became an unstoppable force. Once she realized she had become something more, she made a personal phone call to her parents, appreciating their love. Towards the end, when the police officer asked what he could do despite her not needing him anymore, she replied, "As a reminder," and then kissed him. She knew she was becoming more than human and didn’t want to lose the humanity that was left in her. Finally, in her last moment, she gave all of her knowledge to the scientists in the hope that they would put it to good use.
