Juliane Koepke is an inspiring figure! Seventeen years old and not only surviving an airplane crash but finding a way back to civilization and her rescue through the rainforest makes it incredibly inspiring. She really watched her father well and learned from him, not knowing it would save her life later on. What a GIRL ! ! !

These were astounding! The first one though, I knew her story and knew she had her knowledge to help her but that she still had some limited mobilty to keep on going. What I didn't know and it's heartbreaking, is that her mother survived but succumbed to her injuries before she was found. Serious subject matter beautifully and respectfully presented Be Amazed, thank you ❤

Contrary to what you stated in the video, having maggots in a wound is actually beneficial. They eat dead tissue and thus actually help prevent infection. Maggot therapy is even used in hospitals to help debride wounds that might otherwise become infected.

It's in a monitored setting though and carried out under supervision. Maggot therapy sounds gross but can be extremely beneficial as you say. However being eaten alive when you really don't expect to live probably isn't exactly the most positive thing in the world 😮

My daughter did a degree in medicine and actually (very surprisingly to us!) helped her professor in the "maggot lab". The prof does research in using them in hospital. Funnily enough, there's a leach farm about 20 miles down the road. They raise "sterile" leaches (like the maggots) for hospital use! Apparently most patients who get one or the other freak out a bit at the thought, but when they get treated by them they hardly (if at all) feel anything and surprisingly get pretty attached to them!

It is six stories tall, so about 60 ft. According to the doctors and lawyers, she had reached maximum velocity when the line didn't catch her due to operational failure. Luckily, she survived with two broken ankles, a broken leg, and compound fractures in her back. A few years on, and she is able to walk for short distances

it happened few months back when was going on a vacation with my mom dad and my brother . During Tuesday morning we had to go to see the snow point at manali , India so we got up early and went on for a 2 hr ride to reach the mountain . once we reached . we had to climb some path to reach the point . It was not an easy task as we had to climb on a slippery ,rocky and snowy path to reach the snow point . Some people there sold some sticks so that we dont slip . so it was all good at 1st , we went up and spent 3 hrs at the snow point and did some sports but when we had to come down things didnt go well . my dad was helping my mom to come down and i was with my brother coming down the path . I have no clue what actually happened to me but i slipped and speeded to the other side of the rocky and slippery path , my dad yelled for my safety but i could't control myself as i was too fast and after sometime i almost hit a sharp rock . Yes almost . it was just an inch for that rock to go through my head . people were shocked and surprised to see i escaped . a military officer helped me to reach down as i was unable to walk . a day after , i was well and good and my family was happy that i escaped with only minor injuries . That was the most terrifying experience i ever had and im never going to forget it .

It's actually often better to leave maggots in an infected wound despite how gross it sounds. Maggots (some species at least) only eat the rotten flesh and leave healthy tissues undisturbed. It's actually done sometimes when someone has a severely infected wound leading to necrosis, because the maggots are surprisingly efficient, and a surgeon would struggle cutting away the rotting tissue without taking some healthy away. Leaving the rotting tissue is a certain death sentence, as it will eventually lead to sepsis; an infection of the bloodstream (which is sterile normally). When you've reached that point even the best doctors can do very little for you other than wait and hope you'll pull through (which is highly unlikely).

I think the story of Juliane Koepke was the most incredible story of survival. There was several other people who survived the crash but later perished. Not sure if any of the other occupants were still in their seat when they hit the ground. Because of her survival skills in the jungle she was able to make it out alive. Watching the story on Anatoli Bugorski I felt like he had a good chance of surviving since the radiation was highly focused. Although I was unsure of how his life would turn out after the accident.

Hey, another story: a woman went skydiving at 10000 feet, both of her parachutes failed and she fell to the ground in an open field crushing half of her body. She only survived because she fell on a fire ant nest keeping her heart beating long enough for others to get her help. She is still alive skydiving today.

It's no one but God that has been with them and kept these people to survive these traumatic experiences. When the situations in life has the odds stacked against you showing you that you not gonna make it and all hope is lost for you, God steps in and works supernaturally and says, "You shall not die, but you shall live. You shall make it through this." All praise honor and glory belongs to God! Thank you Jesus for never leaving us nor forsaking us. He always has His hands covering over us. The good God that we serve! Amen!

I once read a Readers Digest story of a WWII RAF Lancaster bomber getting shotdown. The plane was in flames, the tailgunner position was so tight he had to take off his chute to man the turret. His parachute was beyond a hatchway and burning. Faced with burning or jumping from 20,000 feet chuteless, he jumped. Snow was heavy on the ground and in the trees, the tree branches broke his fall, as did the snowbank he landed in. Captured by the Germans, his legs broken, they didn't believe his story til they found the plane's wreckage, and his paracute was still in there, scorched and burnt. He spent the war as a POW.
