Texas is a great state with wonderful people !
One of the last things my last sister and I did before she passed from cancer was go to luckenbauch and have a beer togeather . So many good times with all my siblings.
Can't get enough! I miss Texas 💗💗💗 It's my home and I haven't been home in a long while.. I guess God's got me doing other stuff for now but I still ask him to get me back home where I belong.
Stories like this help build the Legends of Texas and Texans. Thank you for telling these stories!
Back in the '70s, I was cookin' the 'Common Pot Chili' for a chili cook-off out at Lake nasworthy. I had taken a break and grabbed a beer and walked off to sit and rest. Next thing I knew this short, raggedy old fellow walked up to me and asked, "Where'd ya get the beer?" I said, "Want one? I'm buyin' " - - - He said. "Yep." so I went and got him one and we sat down. I told him my name and he replied, "I'm Hondo Crouch." We exchanged pleasantries, and he pulled a strip of rawhide from his pocket, and while we were chatting he held that strip by one end, flipped it around and tied a knot in it - just by flipping it - never touching the opposite end. I told him I'd like to learn to do that. He dug into his pocket and handed me a wadded up strip and said to 'strech it out and I'll show ya. We kept talking and in about 15 or 20 minutes of watching him, I sure nuff popped a knot in my strip! He got the biggest grin on his face. I gave him a quart of the chili and we said our goodbyes. It was probably two weeks later that I figured out who he was [hadn't heard of him before and I think that's why he was comfortable with me] What an incredible guy - I shall never forget the experience. He didn't ask for the rawhide strip back, and, yes, I still have it! 🤠
This story is part of why I love Texas so much. We all loved Hondo and his town. Thanks Hondo for making Texans proud.
Greetings and LOVE from New Braunfels, TX! ❤️

Wonderful! Thanks for sharing Bob! Never knew Hondo was behind Lukenbach Texas!
What a great story. I must have heard that song a thousand times and now I finally get to put a visual on the place.
.............Luckenbach is a magical place and once you go there, you are always going to come back some lucky day.....Maybe I should never leave it.......
I’m pretty sure I remember the combination general store and post office with another building close by from sometime around 74 to 77 maybe. It has always left a smile on my heart when I ponder it. Many thanks :)
What a rich history! And I always assumed Luckenbach lived only in folklore! 🤠
I love this show. Watch it every Sunday.
Powerfully talented lady. Love her work. Excellent video.
God Bless Hondo Crouch and Jerry Jeff Walker.
When i was young i jumped of cliff over there at whiskey river. Head first, got lucky,, perfect drive.
My college professor showed me this for our Broadcast Journalism class
Amazing Texican artist!!! TCR keep up the good work of showing Texas great history, geography and culture. Your narration is like story telling. Good wishes from one of yours SMU alumni family.
I don't want to sound political but I really hope that all the people migraiting to Texas from California don't change the Texas way of life , other states had changed they turned them upside down and destroyed like a rotten apples .
Great video! Keep them coming ❤️
The nicest place in Texas!
I've been there many times great place to ride your bike to will be there in May
Wow this is just an amazing video
Luckenbach, Texas is my favorite place on this earth. I just wish they would stop paving/building stuff out there. I know "everything changes", but does that make it ok? Keep it simple. That's the magic of that place.
Wondering what the lifespan of Luckenbach signs are now, last time I was there, didn't see the "City Limits" sign, assume they disappear overnight by souvenir collectors.😎
But why did her husband "have to" join the Air Force ?
