I have to admit, the part where his Dad finally told him He loved him, that He was proud of who he'd become, hit home for me. My dad and I had a very, very strained relationship, and then he came down with terminal cancer. When a person has hospice overseeing their palliative care at home, one of the rules is that they cannot be left by themselves, so I would sit with him while my mom and brother went on some errand or other. Hearing him tell me out of the blue one day that I was the best daughter in the world, and that he was so proud of the woman I had become...that's all I ever wanted to hear...to know that he was proud of me, that he loved me...that he was proud to have me as his daughter...that meant more than all the gold in the world. That's all *any* child wants to hear...that our parents love us, the they're proud of us..we're hardwired to seek their approval, even when we're adults. Knowing that he left this world at peace with the woman I'd become, gave *me* a sense of closure.

I'm glad that after years of a tough relationship with him, you both were finally able to make peace when he told you how proud of you he was. I also had a difficult relationship with my dad growing up and after much searching and eventually accepting Christ personally, I started to understand the truth of God's love for us if we choose it. I was then able to start having deeper conversations with my dad that helped lead to healing from events of the past.

I just found this thread so I’m a bit late. But while I really liked this part of the show I never got that chance with my father . He past without me hearing that although we had plenty of chances. Two days before he died I told him how much I loved him and was proud to call him my father, was never ashamed of him. He never said anything like that back to me so I just figured that he didn’t like what I did with my life. Never proud of me joining the military, never proud I beat alcoholism, nothing. I was in my 50’s when he died so apparently I never did anything right to him. Granted I did have 1 divorce under my belt but have been married to same woman now for years, didn’t care for her either. So after he passed I decided screw him cause I was at peace with my life. Granted we all have done things we’re not proud of but learn to live with it, that’s just the way life is. I guess he was just my cross to bear until I threw it down and walked away from it. I don’t dwell on it now thankfully. Sorry for the rant and extremely glad you had that kind of closeness and ending. Have a great week.

that gasp of relief from luci when god hugged him, i mean aside from literally being embraced by the creator of all, thats gotta be an indescribable feelin, its really the a mix of relief and disbelief from a boy whom loves his father with his entire being and has felt his whole life that same father does not love him, and to turn and be told he is proud of him and loved and then held by his father.....that would bring any son crumbling down were they in that position. and at its core that embrace and the elation that followed is a notion that applies to anyone whom has felt they were severely lacking a fundamental aspect in their heart and finally receiving it, being made whole. that sense of fulfillment and completeness is overwhelming to say the least.

This explains why he can not admit that he is wrong or love Lucifer. Because of his Paradox he can be Right and Wrong at the same time and also Love and Hate Lucifer. At the end of the series when he retired he finally able to Love Lucifer, this may hinted that he left his powers in his Universe for it to be used by the New God.

I bawled my eyes out when Trixie begged Lucifer to tell her that her dad wasn't really dead. She's 11...that's about when the brain makes the idea of the permanence of death kick in. I lost my own dad and my 28 yr old brother within 7 months of each other when I was 36....the burning hole where your heart used to be never heals completely.

Dan's death was a whole ass trigger for me. I was nearly on the floor sobbing hard over it. I barely made it through that episode.

Episode 15 was just soul wrecking for me. The scene with Chloe and Dan just ripped me in half. Then the scene with Trixie took those two halves and ran them through a shredder. Before 5, my favorite musical number was always "All Along the Watchtower", but now, it's "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye". I love that they gave us an entire scene where Mazikeen is unleashed and wreaks the vengeance that every one of us fans want to meter out ourselves. Each stage of grief is represented by a character in 15 and 16: Trixie: Denial Mazikeen: Anger Lucifer: Bargaining Chloe: Depression Ella: Acceptance
