@@retroK6607 effectively she told the truth or not to me because in this episode we see Chloe was scared when Lucifer touched her and it proves that she was still seeing the bad in Lucifer,his actual face, the devil's face et it scared her so to me she didn't really tell the truth because yeah she doesn't really know if she could accept him like this but deep inside her she knows that she couldn't accept this for the moment she will be able to later but not now so in my opinion she didn't tell all the truth

I don't think it is that easy to really believe someone that he is the actual devil. We, humans, are more likely to try to explain situations and miracles in a more realistic and simple way than just to believe that someone is the devil. Her reaction is completely realistic.

There are Demons, to be sure, but these are separate entities that are created in an entirely different manner.

Maybe it came when his farther just decided to send him to hell but if it didn't that make's him VERY different. so maybe he IS an Angel but you can't deny that he is quite different from the other Angel's up in Heaven

To be honest? Lucifer even in Christianity is probably one of the most misunderstood characters. In the beginning Lucifer was the one who was tasked to help create humans and the universe and well just about everything and he wanted too. But he wanted to take the credit and glory from god. So he rebelled and was cast out of heaven. Thus the reason the burden to make all of creation fell on Christ/micheal. For all we truly know? Lucifer is just an archangel who is really the embodiment of sorrow and betrayal rather than evil. He doesn’t desire to kill humanity. What Lucifer wants in Christianity is for people to follow him and suffer from there own afflictions and temptations just as he has. I have sympathy for him. This show would more than likely paint a perfect picture of what the devil actually is. He was one of the first born children and he has felt betrayed ever since then. This show has actually made me cry thanks to Tom ellis’s portrayal. He was cast from his home and family. Although the rebellion probably doesn’t make him look good? I’d be pissed too.

One thing it portrays well is that we don't actually know anything about Lucifer because we derive our knowledge from books made by men. Plus I want you to define evil because what's evil about questioning shit we know nothing about? To me it just seems like you're another one of those brainwashed Christian's who doesn't know how to think for himself. God made us in his image and he made us intelligent enough to question stuff like this. If he didn't want us to think then he wouldn't have made us this way to begin with.

I took this as she was terrified that she was in loved with him still and to come to terms with the fact that she is in love with the actual devil.

It’s not that she was scared of him, she was scared that she was in love with the actual devil

Tom Ellis and Lauren German gave performances of a life time with this season seriously this show is one of the best written ever in recent years. sure season 3's writing was a little rough around the edges but season 4 easily fixed that by making both Lucifer and Chole's characters both act like adults and not inconstantly immature/mature i do love how S4 did literally everything season 3 did but did it better and acheived even more. the love triangle was executed perfectly and even had a really cool twist to it and there was no dragging of pace whatsoever. truly a successful firey hellish season.

@@SenoritaTorres1 a twist in the sense of there was no twist everyone was expecting Eve to be a ultra Possessive evil seductress whom would immediately go fully villain the moment Lucifer ditched her for Chole but she didn't she had a fully rounded of arc like everyone in the show and what was impressive is that it felt like she'd been in the show since day one and that she hadn't just been introduced into the show this season.

There are so many layers to this scene that you have to watch it multiple times to try to catch them. He has always told her what he is, she didn’t believe him and fell in love, she saw what he actually is, and now she’s scared shitless even though she still loves him. This short clip is mentally exhausting but pure genius in writing, directing, and especially acting.

The show is still the same, written by the same people. The only thing Netflix did was allow more swearing and nudity and increase their budget. This season was this good because everyone who worked on it were glad they weren't cancelled, and wanted to give back to the fans.

Well everyone’s saying they would. I would love to believe I would as well. But honestly it’s a lot more complicated than that. Chloe went through so much with Lucifer and no matter how many times he went out of his way to save her life when he knew he would get hurt, the moment he showed her his devil face she got terrified. Yes I’m sure we would all (or most people) get over the fact that our loved one is Lucifer but that face is completely different. You’ve built a love with someone that you believe is a normal person to see their face morph into something completely different and then find out he’s the evil written in every bible and is supposedly the core of all evil, that’s a completely different thing. I would hopefully accept my loved one but obviously a lot of warming up to his other side would be needed.

I really liked this scene because it felt really natural and a real reaction that someone would have if they found out someone they cared about was the Devil. She's someone who's really scared and conflicted and lauren played it so well without getting mean or irrational.

sdasi1, I thought the same. It wasn’t that “all that heaven stuff” was real, it was how she felt about Lucifer that was really tormenting her. She knows that she should fear and hate and revile WHAT he is, but she can’t deny that WHO she is is nothing like what she’s been told, and more than that, it’s the man she’s fallen in love with. Her performance here really was great. I poo-pooed it as too emotional originally, but now I understand the nuance of it. Also? Wow. They REALLY nailed the make up on Netflix lol

She's terrified that he's manipulated her into feeling the way she does for him, not terrified he's going to hurt her, she says that she's just a nobody, why would the devil himself, pay so much attention to a random human? Kinley put in her head that she was just being used as some sick joke by Lucifer. Chloe didn't formulate what she wanted to say properly which is understandable considering how highly emotional she was in the moment, but she just wants to know if he really cares about her or if it was just a game. When he asks if she can accept him, she says that she wants too, that she's trying too, she doesn't want to lie to him again after all the Kinley stuff so she chooses to be honest and say that she's not really sure. Upon Lucifer turning away from her she instantly regrets what she said, but doesn't think anything she says will change how much she's just crushed Lucifer, you can see that he's clearly holding back a near total emotional breakdown, just by the look in his eyes

Oh my god does anyone else notice how wonderful the lighting is, with both characters being half covered in dark (for lucifer) and light (for chloe) but both also having flickering lights showing their mixed moralities and feelings ahhhhh i'm so happy lucifer is at netflix now

I get whys she's scared but she's known Lucifer for ages now so why would she thinks he's evil?

The acting between Lauren and Tom in this scene is flawless.

I got chills when she said "Because I'm terrified" Her acting is phenomenal in this scene

This scene is so much more impactful when you realize that Chloe unintentionally broke Lucifer's heart in nearly every way that hurts him the most. He thought she'd abandoned him(like his parents), and when she came back she lied to him(something he hates) and planned to cast him back into Hell(like his father). On top of which, she couldn't quite accept all of him in that moment. He poured his heart out about his fears about showing his dark side to her, and now that he has, all those fears just became a reality in that moment for him. Definitely not something that can be resolved with a single apology, but so glad it happened because it revealed huge issues that both of them had to overcome.

Netflix brings such deep and organic emotions to Lucifer ever since they picked it up. The acting was amazing, the SE, even the story was quite interesting

Netflix had very little to do with that. They were the backbone, allowing them to bring the show to its full potential, by taking away some restrictions, giving them a bigger budget, and only accepting 10 episodes. Besides that, the props of the writing and acting all go to the original crew, because nothing has changed in that regard. They are incredibly grateful that they could continue the story, and this season was pretty much their love letter to the fans because we made it possible. This show's community is unique. I never see anyone being toxic and there's only love. Both from the people who work on the show, and the people who watch it.

Lauren was amazing in this scene.

“I don’t care that he was trying to hurt me. I care that you were.” This whole scene summarized in this one line. Luci is probably used to people trying to hurt/kill him. But the one person he loved and cared trying to hurt him. The worst kind of betrayal.

Lucifer's fear that Chloe wouldn't accept him was unfortunately vindicated when she went behind his back.

Chloe's outburst that she was terrified of Lucifer is one of the best scenes in this show. One of the only times Chloe actually loses her composure and points out the obvious to Lucifer. It's so powerful. The clash of these two characters at their very core levels is so amazing and compelling

How has Lauren German not gotten some kind of award yet? Tom is perfect as Lucifer, but I feel like Lauren has been the shining star through the whole series.

This is probably the most heart shattering thing Lucifer ever went through, he completely shuts down after, doesn't leave his penthouse for weeks, just drinks himself into a hole, it wouldn't of surprised me if he didn't feel like returning to hell after that. Chloe was his one hope, his one light for being seen the way he always wanted to be seen, and then she throws in his face that he's evil, that everything bad happens because of him, something he hates to his core, having the one person he loves see him as evil when she promised him multiple times that she wouldn't broke him. He's not been shy with telling her how much he hated hell, how it was terrible, how he didn't like what he was forced to do, she knows it's his worst nightmare, yet she still tried to send him back and in the end she did send him back to hell, so Kinley succeeded in the end. She knows Lucifer hates liars, and people who pretend, yet she does exactly that, she lies to him 7 times in this one episode, and she pretended to care for him whilst working with Father Kinley, and that she only tried to fix the issue after she was caught instead of being honest from the start. He's told her about 5 times that all that will ever matter to him is what she thinks of him, so hearing her say that she can't accept him must of felt like he was dying all over again, especially considering how much Lucifer has done for her, how much he'd changed, become a better person, and all of that was thrown back in his face, because a book said he was bad. Chloe of all people shouldn't judge Lucifer for his past life, considering she went through the same stuff when she joined the police, after hot tub high school, he was the first person to support her when she was down on her luck in S1E1, however she doesn't return the favour to Lucifer when he's desperate for that support

He literally had tears in his eyes at 3:23. Never seen him like this. This episode was insane 😭. Season 5 can’t come soon enough ❤️

She did one hell of a job acting this scene. I really felt the emotions she was projecting.

Lauren is absolutely amazing in this scene and all through season 4.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how good of acting they did during this scene

The acting in this scene was amazing, especially from Lauren. She truly stole the scene.When she screamed "BECAUSE I'M TERRIFIED" I legit teared up. She delivered it so perfectly. This episode was truly Lauren's episode. She nailed the emotions!

I really wish they had written in more dialogue where Lucifer got to throw it back in Chloe's face how badly she messed up. "How am I, a regular human, supposed to deal with that?" "By remembering that you know me! You know who I am! I'm not just some fairy tale to you! We've been working together for over a year, and in that time, I've never lied to you about who I am. Now all of a sudden when you realize I was telling the truth, what, everything you know about me, everything we've been through together, that all takes a back seat to what you read in some book from a thousand years ago?! I would expect this from a stranger, detective, but I thought that you base your conclusions on what the evidence shows you." "I do, and I --" "Well, *evidentially* not. I think you should leave, detective. I wouldn't want to continue to terrify you."

idk man, i think the fact he doesn't defend himself speaks to his own inner conflict. at the end of season 3, he had finally realized that he controlled his wings / devil face and started to see himself differently, straight up telling chloe he's starting to not see himself as the devil anymore. then he kills cain & his devil face comes back, & now he's struggling with viewing himself as a monster again. he doesn't defend himself against accusations of evil because part of him is terrified that they're true. also guilt-tripping chloe after she clearly already feels bad about the whole situation isn't a great move imo

always knew tom was a great actor and the actual essence of the show, but lauren really stepped up this season. wd.

You can tell that at first he is angry with her but once she told him that she’s Terrified, Tom is such a terrific actor that you can tell he is trying to hide the heart break at first and that he is so depressed just from the words that Chloe says

Honestly thought Lucifer would say "You were NEVER a nobody to me, Detective."

One of the things I love the most about this amazing series is that all the writers and Tom Ellis as Lucifer actually managed to turn the DEVIL itself into a relatable, sympathetic character. Just the fact that they took what is widely considered as evil encarnate an made it as endearing as he is is just astonishing. Hats off.

The scene the acting , I loved it this is I want most from TV show

“I’m the devil” “Lol okay.” “YOURE THE DEVIL.” “I was born this way.”

It must be devastating for Lucifer to realize that his therapist, who he sees like a few hours a week at most, dealt with him being the Devil better than the woman he's in love with and who he spends most of his time with, the woman for which he literally died twice and went to Hell to save, the one for who he killed his own brother to protect, can't even answer a yes or no question 1 month after learning about it even after trying to betray him. Like, even ignoring everything else he did for her over time, just the fact that he didn't hurt her or her close ones for literally trying to kill him should speak volumes about how he's really not what the history books says he is. To be honest I was really disappointed and I kinda thought that this would make him turn into exactly what she believed he was, because such betrayal after everything is exactly how you create a villain.

One of my favorite scenes from season 4. This is just so realistic acting. Netflix better renew Lucifer for season 5.

Lucifer was signed for 3 seasons with fox then cancelled Netflix picked it up and signed for 1 season only being season 4. Season 5 is still unknown. If it gets good reviews then maybe. Tom Ellis is for the idea for season 5 though

It’s really shows the quality of the writing and acting when you’re sympathetic to both sides of the story. I really feel for Lucifer, betrayed by the person he trusts the most, but I also feel for Chloe, who’s entire world has been turned upside down, from her entire belief system and finding out the man she loves the most infamous figure of all time. I get chills every time I watch this scene.

Definitely Lauren German's best acting thus far! She's just phenomenal!

Don't give up on her. Not yet.

I think about Lauren’s acting in this scene at least three times a day because of how amazing it is 🙌🏼🤩

Lauren’s acting in this scene is incredible

I felt so sorry for both of them. He has to face the most brutal rejection for being who he is. She has to face that openig up about her true feelings and insecurities just devastated her loved one's heart. I'm not crying, you're crying.

Chloe's reaction and the look on Lucifers face, man what a heartbreaking scene

1:12 - 1:23 for me this is the best moment of season 4... when she actually has to admit that she lied to him. And Lauren German is acting it so sweetly... it hits even harder if you rewatch it during season 5 when it becomes absolutely characteristic that he never lied to her.

This right here is the best scene of the whole series in my opinion the acting from both of them is top notch the emotion, the twisted pain, the complicated anguish of the whole situation is just phenomenal

Lauren German delivers amazing acting here, she's really talented and proved it many times throughout her carrier, sad it didn't get recognized as it should have.

This scene is extremely painful to watch. I can literally feel both of their struggle and pain. What a great acting there!

So emotional and heartbreaking for LUCIFER. Chloe finally realized her true feelings in the last season episode . Let's hope it's not too late

Honestly as angsty as as their goodbye was, Tom and Lauren's acting hits different in this scene. Lucifer's heartbreak, the betrayal he felt from the one person he selflessly loved and Chloe's feelings for him, overpowered by her fear and the overwhelming feeling of falling in love with an immortal. No matter how many times I watch it I still feel that invisible punch to my gut. I'll never understand how Lucifer doesn't get recognition in awards shows when there's acting like this.

You can actually see it when Chloe calls herself a nobody, he's thinking "you're not a nobody." He just feels hurt by Chloe. He doesn't think anything less of her.

For someone who doesn’t like the role of playing Chloe, Lauren German really does a good job at showing Chloe’s emotions.

She's honest at least she didn't tell him a pretty lie then hurt him by not living up to it

I cried so much watching lucifer. The acting in this scene is so amazing! Love this, love Lauren German.

You know what makes it even sadder? The fact that he is the devil personified and he could lie every time he wanted to but he did not because he loves her and on the other hand Chloe who is just a human was capable of break his trust, lied to him and disappointed him at the same time. How sad that a celestial was capable to remain truth to himself and to her was betrayed by the person he love the most.

When I first saw this scene, I initially interpreted it as Lucifer resenting Chloe for not being able to truly accept him, but after some deep thought, as well as watching subsequent episodes, I realized it was actually him resenting himself, because his mere existence is causing pain and fear to someone he cares about deeply.

I’m not usually an emotional person but this show brings it out of me for some reason

Just imagine his heartbreak. Chloe. The person he at first just wanted to have sex with became his partner in solving crime. As time flew, he grew to care for her and she him. He tried telling her he was the devil, tried to warn her when Uriel was out to kill her due to an unresolved deal with God, Tanked gunshots just to keep her alive. And she confided with Kinley to send Luci back to hell. Ouch man ouch

One of the saddest part about this scene isn't spoken about enough, which is when he turns his back on her after saying he's gotten his answer, you can see Chloe's heart shatter that he's turning his back on her, this isn't what she wants, you can see the regret wash over her, she wants to say something more but doesn't think it would even help the situation so she swallows her words and walks out in tears. I think this is when she realised the gravity of her mistake, that there might not be away of coming back from this, she's lost the devil she loves, her 2 best friends in Lucifer and Maze, her partner, her biggest supporter and someone she saw as a step-dad to Trixie because she lost sight of the man she fell in love with in the first place. her entire world is crumbling all over again.

The slightly annoying thing is that he didn't get an answer at all. She said she wanted to accept him, but didn't know if she could. She didn't reject him; he just needed to give her more time.

Im glad Netflix grabbed this because this show has so much potential.

I mean i would be scared and confused too if I fell in love literally with the devil.

It's one of those rare moments in a television series where you can completely understand both sides.

It's not that easy. Can you wake up next to the ACTUAL devil for the rest of your life no matter how much you loved him? You might say yes but it's easier said than done. It's not going to be peaches and roses knowing the person you love turns out all of a sudden to be the devil, the embodiment of all evil. Accepting takes time. Sometimes a lot of time.

Why because she couldn't believe him? She saw everything she had to see to realize he was telling the truth, but she didn't want to accept it.

I loved that the episodes are shorter and the filler episodes are gone. Netflix not only saved lucifer but it let it make itself become better and IMO the best season by far.

D S how are episodes shorter? actually slightly longer just no adverts never a problem in UK as first three seasons were shown on Amazon
