Pavarotti leggero tante volte lo sentito dire il primo mio padre ma io nn sono dello stesso parere ….. era una voce senza dubbi estesa e ha affrontato ruoli drammatici da grande tenore grande maestro R I P ❤️

Dimitrova started as a mezzo in her young days then quickly moved to soprano. Pavarotti, with his beautiful lyric voice had no business singing Radames, especially against a huge dramatic voice like Dimitrova's.

Exactly. You saved me from writing my comment. I heard Pavarotti more than once as Radames and he was always too light, too lyric... and why did he do it? The huge fee no doubt...And in any case who else was there? By that time the dramatic decline in larger voices was being felt and there were few if any tenors remaining who were inherently suited to the dramatic Verdi roles.

I'm trying to think of who could match her.....maybe like, Richard Tucker or Bergonzi. Corelli or del Monaco could yell at her. But I agree that Pavarotti is kinda........light. I don't think Radamaes was written for that type of lyric voice, but man, I wish I could have seen Dimitrova and Chiara perform in this production.

@@photo161 I rather think he was trying to prove that he could sing the heavier roles like Domingo did, but Domingo had a larger and heavier voice than Pavarotti, who was a beautiful light lyric tenor.

sempre bella la dizione chiara e la voce limpida di Pavarotti, che sopra tutte le cazzate su presunti microfoni e altre cialtronate che qualcuno va dicendo.

Personally I liked more Cossotto as Amneris,but Dimitrova's performance is also excellent.

Esta ópera debería llamarse Amneris; es ella la que lleva la acción de la obra.

Rememoro pri la bulgara opera Primo - Gena Dimitrova ! 06.05.1941j. - 11. 06.2005j.

Actually, I prefer Dimitrova as a mezzo!

Luciano Pavarotti - tenore leggero, ma molto leggero. Anche in questo caso Pavarotti ben microfonato. la commedia è finita.

chiedi alla Chiara cosa pensa... vedi che tutta questa storiella è veramente ridicola. 1 ero presente durante la recita,Pava aveva una voce molto più grande della Maria,la Ghena e Nicolai... 2 ma t'immagini che Pavarotti cantava Radames con una vocalità molto più grande di Maria,Ghena e Ghiaurov?!?! ahahahahahahahahahahah ! il fatto che Pavarotti durante la sua carriera usava dei modi differenti d'amplificazione era un ''segreto'' internazionale... ahahahahahahahahahahah ! piccolino,smetti di parlare allo specchio ... soltanto uno dilettante del tuo genere può fare il paragone fra la vocalità eroica del fenomeno Mario Del Monaco e quella di Luciano Pavarotti chi come Radames dal vivo durante le sue recite di Aida era Nemorino in Egitto... piccolino,del mio mestiere non capisci niente,è un fatto. il vecchio .

Radames ridicolo, Ghena, ovviamente, sublime e se posso aggiungere, bellissima in costume.

After looking at Jonas Kauffman or Franco Corelli as Rhadames, I cringe at the sight of Pavarotti trying to attempt this role. Besides, his gross fatness is so incredibly distracting. So glad these kinds of fat tenors is gone. What company would spend money on doing a DVD of any singer who looked like this today. Utterly gross and disgusting!

Kaufmann is horrible and throaty. Pav is not the best here but much better.
