Lucia Popp "Deh vieni non tardar" (Le Nozze di Figaro -1980)
Музыка
My ideal Susanna, my lovely Lucia Popp sings the marvelous "Deh vieni non tardar", from a wonderful Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro" conducted by Georg Solti at Paris Opera Garnier in 1980.
The very famous stage production by Giorgio Strelher.
Fabulous cast : Jose Van Dam (Figaro), Lucia Popp (Susanna), Gundula Janowitz (Contessa Almaviva), Gabriel Bacquier (Almaviva), Federica Von Stade (Cherubino), Jane Berbié (Marcellina).

Absolutely gorgeous. i don't get why many contemporary conductors feel an inexplicable need to rush through Mozart as fast as humanly possible. This is perfection. I had forgotten how much I loved Lucia Popp. Thanks for the reminder.
My first opera performance in Palais Garnier was this Nozze di Figaro the 28 of june 1980. She was my Suzanna. She is for ever.
How could anyone not be grateful for the privilege of seeing this video. I am so thankful that it is preserved for us. The best of humankind!
this is amazing singing. I think this is one of the most beautiful soprano arias ever; it's apparent simplicity is it's beauty and this is sung amazingly...this is a voice to hear in heaven
I will always treasure the Decca recording of this opera. Lucia Popp was the greatest Sussanah of all time. She sings this aria so beautifully and with great feeling.
This is simply the best rendition of the aria I have ever heard.
I've never heard this sing more beautifully. Probably no one is going to top her ever, either.
Goddamn, still gave me the chills. None like Ms. Popp - godspeed Ms. Popp, we miss you.
The most beautiful Sussannah ever.
I have no words to express how beautiful this song is and she sings it so delicately...i love it
I'm with you that she's an ideal Susanna. What a crystal-clear voice!
Surely makes you believe in angels- her voice will never truly be silenced....
wow, i've never heard such explosive applause after such a placid aria!
I believe this woman is the greatest soubrette in history
How wonderful, spiritual and full of grace is Lucia Popp !!! To be in love with her is something natural for some people who love superior things. But my favourite Susanna is another human marvel: Victoria de los Angeles. Kisses for both of you, beautiful women, wherever your marvelous spirits may be... AND THANKS
She had such a uniquely sweet character to her voice.
I miss lucia popp ... she's an inspiration! that breath control is out of this world.
As I hear her I curse on the time which I was born! It's such a pity that I couldn't hear such voice on stage alive !
récitatif et aria :tout est chanté avec finesse, sensibilité et lumière.quelle belle couleur de voix et légato! sublime....
There's no such thing as perfection in music, but this comes pretty darn close.
I just love L.Popp!!!
WOW. She is really one of the best sopranos!!! Bravo, que expresividad vocal tan buena!!!
i can hardly believe it. love you forever lucia.
She is an angel! She played Contessa in Tokyo just a year before her death. It was such a great performance, too. We miss you, Lucia!
So much love and light in this sound...in this beautiful human being. Somewhere Mozart is listening & saying under his breath "Yes!Yes! This is how I hear this!!". Listen to that audience response! They have been altered...somehow changed, lifted from the everyday mundane to a higher plain because of Mozart and Ms. Popp's ability to be a conduit for his music. Imagine what it must have been like to hear her live! I am so grateful for technology and all the recordings that are made available:)
beautiful lady with beautiful voice. sings like an angel.
Fun fact: Popp's understudy in this production was Renee Fleming.
She is just the best.
Oh wonderful Lucia...
¡Pero qué mujer más fantástica!
The lovely Lucia Popp...beautiful interpretation. Thank you.
Delicate, sweet voice like an angel's... I love this piece of opera for soprano ;)!! I'm working on it and the melody is quite hard to record and interpret correctly...Lucia does it very well !!
she makes is sound so easy! shes amazing
Perfection!!!
Perfect in every way!
i love this song so much
Not your ideal Susanna? This woman was BORN to sing Mozart, and it's a shame that most American houses are casting bigger voices to sing this part.
no hay nada comparable con esta mujer en sus roles.Es absolutamernte fantástica. su voz es la voz la voz de Dios. sin dudas. es un presagio
Perfection
Just perfect!
I'm learning this song for my next recital. It is so beautiful and has been so much fun to sing.
I have never really appreciated Popp before, but she is seriously the only person who could make me like this aria. Most especially the second half. With most other singers, I would be bored to death. The applause at the end of this is justice.
so beautiful!
Unreachable!!
A wonderful simplicity!
So beautiful!!
i am so excited to be sining this song in a couple of weeks :)
My ideal Susanna, my lovely Lucia Popp sings the marvelous "Deh vieni non tardar", from a wonderful Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro" - A critic after my own heart;) Thanks!!

A wonderful artist who died too young
no one sings this aria better
A wonderful person and much missed artist! thank you, p.s I urge lucia popp fans to buy the new release on D.G of the zauberflote with the lovely Lucia popp(R.I.P) as Pamina- paul xx
Superb. As good as it gets.TY MUEZZAB for posting
The DVD is being released soon if not already. Check Amazon with familiar tags like Solti, Figaro, Paris Opera.
You read my mind.
This is the first time I heard this song. I was actually looking for the opera singer who sang this song in the movie "Becoming Jane" her name is Lynda Lee, from Ireland but came across Lucia Popp. What happened to her? I see those below mentioning "had" and "we didn't deserve her".
Lorenzo da Ponte wrote such delightful lyrics
Lucia Popp is amazing. Does anyone have Popp's version of Gretchen? I was really disappointed that the only video I saw got taken off of youtube :(
Yes ! it is "Sull aria" duet which I posted...
i agree - her singing is absolutely beautiful! but look at he expression after 'sul arra' in this same production, she thinks the same of Gundula's singing ...
This performance was obviously recorded. Does anyone know where it can be purchased?
Is this performance available on dvd?
Does anyone know where to get this video, either on VHS or DVD? I can't find it anywhere
Does anyone have the lyrics? I can't find them anywhere on the internet! I'd be very grateful x
where is she, what a loss.
There's also Kathleen Battle's rendition of this aria and sincerely, it's quite difficult to decide which is the more beautiful. Check it here in youtube. Let me know what do you think.
do you have che soave zefiretto??
ouch!!! but spot on
very....slow. but, it's an interpretation. and, i liked it. though, with a less capable singer, it would have been a disaster. could you imagine netrebko at this tempo? dear lord.....
Is she the role of 'Countess' in this?
Compare to another similar aria writen by JOSEPH MARTIN KRAUS (1756-1792): Concert aria - " Innocente donzelletta "
Oh, your comment made me laugh! I agree with you! Shoot the bastardo! ;-))
Amazing singing, but I think the tempo should be a little faster
She is the successor of Zinka Milanov as "la donna immobile".
Then stay away from come scoglio lol
