Hearties! We've passed the halfway point of Season 8! I have always rooted for Elizabeth & Lucas. After these past few episodes, I am even more confident that this couple is meant to be together. Their relationship has had a slow and steady build from their spark-filled meet-cute outside the saloon, to their real and honest friendship, and now their deepening love. Watching their story unfold has brought me so much joy. I made this mid-season video edit with the hopes of sharing that joy with the hearties :-)

The song "The Next Ten Minutes", from the Off-Broadway musical "The Last Five Years", has a beautiful sweeping melody with a slow and steady build, much like L & E's relationship - taking it step by step. After the first verse, I switched up the music with "Something Beautiful" by Tim Halperin. I first heard this song a few weeks ago and it gave me a powerful feeling of excitement and hope. The lyrics are beautiful and I think they describe where E & L are in their relationship perfectly. It's truly the beginning of something beautiful.

Why is Elizabeth with anyone other than Lucas? After Jack, Lucas was the only one that pushed her to love someone other than her son and be consumed with grief and loss over her husband. He was patient, just like Jack, and really loved who she was, all of it.

Re:comment: oh that’s beautiful to know. If Lucas is really close to being like Jack, then I’d want to see him & see how he treats precious Elizabeth in every situation. Cause in my opinion Jack was outstanding in character. That says alot about Jack. It’d take alot to measure up to him (Jack) but Jack’s worth it! He was a real gentleman! That stands out. Esp, in this world.

Oh yes! That’s one of my favorite scenes from Season 8. It was monumental in their relationship. Elizabeth took a huge step forward by holding his hand publicly and telling Lucas that she wanted him to share everything with her. 🥺❤️ Then you see them happily walking hand in hand. It’s like the equivalent of “riding off into the sunset”. It was perfect.
It is beautiful the way their journey is captured.

I think the best part of the courtship was watching her slowly open up and smile again. It seemed genuine and it was like she was able to overcome her fears with his gentleness and his patience for each step that she needed to take. I just think that was thr best part . I still wish there were better conversations on each date but otherwise it was perfect
Lucas is wonderful man...and to Elizabeth. Absolute gentleman and all heart. I always tend to remember this quote when i see Lucas with Elizabeth and their build up has been... Lucas basically bought Elizabeth's affection. I knew she would choose him, he and his Mother was the best choice for her writing career. How did she choose a man that was totally opposite of the man she married. Jack was compassionate, loving, helpful, brave, risk life and limb for others, honest, respectable and loved by all the citizens in Hope Valley all the traits Nathan possess. Lucas is a charlatan but Elizabeth can't see past him being good for her writing career to see who he really is.

I am sooo happy they ended up together!!!! All of the buildup for 3 years seriously has paid off! Lucas never pushed her or forced her to do things with him. He was patient and always put her first! Season 9 will be wonderful to watch their romance take off!

This is now the perfect love. How can you not choose Lucas. I see that he was brought up properly by his parents...he was kind, helpful and patient not only to Elizabeth but to other people. He was helpful, like helping out Nathan. He is an entrepreneur. He had class like Elizabeth, knew his p's and q's.
Don't know what some of you are watching or maybe have blinders on ???? LUCAS has been so tender and loving with Elizabeth and little Jack.....he truly cares for them. Can't wait for next season to begin !!! Thank you to all involved, as well as Chris and Erin, for bringing us this beautiful and very romantic story.

I loved Lucas right from the first time I saw him. I’m glad that Elizabeth chose him......if she didn’t I would 😉
I have been team Lucas all around and all along so I am happy at the result and I think the most important thing is that it was the right decision for the writers to have made for the series in this fictional story line. I am sure there will make sure that Nathan is very happy and find true love next season as well. Remember this is about the good of the series not necessarily team Nathan versus team Lucas, although that's what we all made it. We all need to just go with the flow and trust the writers. They have made this show a topknotch show with incredible writing for these amazing actors. Let's trust the moving forward into season 9 and enjoy!
I never seen it and don't even know what's all these about them. But yet I could say he was in deep love with her and yet he kept so much patience and spoke less to make her feel comfortable and happy. But his eyes said many things.

I absolutely live this relationship. Lucas being patient will win Elizabeth I believe she already loves him. She just has to release Nathan from his guilt and Lucas and Elizabeth can be together. Nathan and Elizabeth have not built anything together he just feels guilty.

Thank you for putting this together. It has been such a beautiful journey for them so far and while I liked them together from the start, I wasn't entirely satisfied how itheir dynamic centered around what was right for her. I like how Elizabeth is more attentive to Lucas's needs this season. Lucas lets her know where his wishes may be different from hers while still assuring her he plans to be patient. She needs to know that. Their relationship is more balanced this season, they take care of each other. A true partnership.

Lucas has always been the one who was more forward in showing his affections to Elizabeth. Never pushing, but being patient and always making sure it was her choice. I love how this season, we see Elizabeth taking the reins in showing him how she feels and how she’s also invested in this relationship. A beautiful partnership indeed ❤️

I think Lucas and Elizabeth resemble a new chapter of life for Elizabeth. Nathan only brings back hurt and sorrow, while Lucas is a fresh start for Elizabeth, and makes her better than she was before. I will be really disappointed if she chooses Nathan.

Lucas and Elizabeth are so perfect for each other. It breaks my heart that she has rejected him because he chose to do what she and the town begged him to do. She has created a very small world for herself. What a shame...I am so disappointed in the way that writers have decided to make Elizabeth a much smaller, insecure person.

I really think the writers have made Lucas and Elizabeth’s relationship about patience. It just doesn’t make sense to make Lucas be patient just to make him be the loser in love.

Exactly. Patience has been an important theme in their relationship. It’s understandable that it’s taken Elizabeth a lot of time to finally be ready to open her heart again after losing Jack. Lucas has been so patient and understanding about that. He always puts her happiness first - making sure that she’s comfortable and ready as they move forward with each step that they take in their relationship.

And after S8E8 and the reveal from Nathan, E is experiencing the loss of J again. I would feel the same way if I were E. She won’t blame N because of her kind heart. But with this she can finally put closure to Jack’s passing and open her heart and swim in Lucas’s love and affections.

I’m hoping that this is true. The way I’ve perceived the love triangle goes as follows..... Nathan has said that he lives Elizabeth while Lucas has not. However Lucas has shown in many many ways over and over just how much he is in love with Elizabeth. Sometimes it’s not in what you say but what you do. Like the song says....”More than words is all you have to do to make it real then you wouldn’t have to say that you love me cause I’d already know”.

This is such a beautiful video, and I can just watch it over and over! 🥰. The story of Elizabeth and Lucas is so well brought to life in the work you did putting this lovely work together.
