Plock, Poland, November 27, 2018 - Cucine Lube Civitanova came back from 10-14 down in the tie-break to send defending champions Zenit Kazan crashing out of the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship with an amazing 3-2 (20-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-23, 19-17) win that tonight resounds around the volleyball world.
Powered by 20 points from Tsevtan Sokolov and another 18 by Robertlandy Simon, Lube got their revenge over Kazan in this rematch of last year's final which they had lost in straight sets.
What was looking to be an anticlimactic ending to the seesaw match, when Kazan reached match point with five to spare at 10-14 in the fifth, turned out to keep fans on the edge of their seats as Lube clawed their way back and Kazan produced error after error. The Italian side cancelled the first four match points and then another two at 14-15 and 16-17 before they brought it home.
The reigning Russian, European and world champions ran away with the first set, but Lube regained control in the second - aided in part by the increased unforced errors of Kazan (including as many as eight from the service line).
The Italian side opened up a two-point lead at 18-20 and widened that to three with an ace by Enrico Cester as he came on off the bench for 19-22. All Kazan could do was claw back to within a point at 22-23, before a long serve by Ngapeth and a cross-court kill by Robertlandy Simon brought Lube back in the game.
An injury of Bruno Rezende in the right hand at 5-5 in the third could have been a turning point in the game. But reserve server Stijn D'Hulst kept the pace brilliantly for Lube and in fact Kazan had to fight back from 20-22 and 22-23 down before taking the set on their second set point on a block by Matt Anderson on Tsvetan Sokolov.
Bruno did come back on in the fourth and help keep the score tight before, at 21-21, Lube broke away with a run of three for 21-24. Kazan immediately got the sideout and sub Andrey Surmachevskiy aced on Osmany Juantorena to close in at 23-24, but Sokolov eventually had the last word with a hit down the line for the sideout that forced the tie-break.

WTF, shame on the referee for calling that fault, we can clearly see that the ball was never set over the net by Butko. Neither of the team would want a lost like that, I'm not really a fan of Earvin Ngapeth but what he behaved under that circumstances is totally understandable, such a great game shouldn't just ended like this.

No. The best game of all time is the Gold Medal match of Russia vs Brazil at the 2012 London Olympics. Alekno (Zenit's coach) switched Muserski to opposite after being 2 games down and won the match 3-2. His decision forever changed volleyball. It shows clearly in the video juantorena touched the ball yet they still make a huge scene out of it. Volleyball is my fave sport but MAN pro players can be such drama queens

I know Leon was unstoppable but Earvin was almost perfect. This game is stolen by referees, I dont say Lube doesn't deserve but Earvin's reaction at the end was totally right. It was no one's fault but referees.

Блин, до сих пор так обидно:( Ни одного сработавшего блока первого темпа Симона при счёте 14-9... Очень и очень печально. Ладно, если б под 0 проиграли, но нет, ведь была очень жёсткая борьба. Но Чивитанова действительно очень (!!!) сильны в действующем составе, просто монстры. Но Зенит не хуже! Не хватило капельки. До сих пор не пойму, как Зенит проиграл Факелу:(

очень обидно за зенит, я не думаю что это связано с тем что ушел леон, а вместо него пришел нгапет, ведь нгапет очень хороши отыграл, заработав важные очки😢

да как же вы надоели, не из-за этого они проиграли. вы сами видели, что им не хватило лишь одного очка, они практически досинировали в последней партии, но после 14-9 Чивитанова включила режим "шотного совка". Также никак нельзя отрицать того, что Любэ очень сильная команда, и им не просто там повезло в последней партии, они в буквальном смысле собрались и вырвали победу

Я не думаю что зенит значительно ослабло чем в прошлых годах , в этом году тоже очень сильная команда, просто у Казани бездарность подвила самого себя это будет уроком для Алекно , а с Лубе мы еще рассчитаемся .. у нас еще главный турнир в впереди Лига чемпионов.

Both times Butko blocked Leal, he looked like he killed someone. It's comparable to the blocks from Lisinac where it seems like he wants to say "It's just business". Both of them look intimidating.

Для тех кто не понял - Бутько отдал мяч на ту сторону, находясь в растановке на задней линии(в 1 номере). Блокирующие коснулись раньше, чем Михайлов, значит всё верно

Чтооо это былооооо?!!! У Казани было 5 сетболов, когда подавал не самый сильный подающий игрок Лубе, и сравнять счет и вырвать победу это даже в женском волейболе не увидишь. Судьи в своем репертуаре тупили как обычно пас бутько на диоганального было нарушение правил?????!!!!

Пас был с ошибкой, просто свиснуть надо было 2 касания, а не игру на чужой половине, ну очко у итальянцев должно было быть точно

Странное восприятие поражения на турнире, в котором принимают участие сильнейшие команды мира. Даже сильнейшие инлгда проигрывают. Тем более, с уходом Леона команда до конца так и не перестроилась. Но роль Нгапета в Зените сейчас стала ккда более весомой, нежели в первых играх с его участием.

My bad its group stages, but cmon how tf would the top 2 teams be drawn in the same group. But either way zenit lost to fakel too, so they really underperformed without leon.

@@Lovistarful I don't agree with your comment about Ngapeth. He may not be as good spiking as players like Matt Anderson, Leon or Sokolov but he can put the ball away in though situations. And let's not forget how amazing he is at defending and that he has a very powerful serve. I think he is a great addition to the team

@@rivaldyhaldianto1624 at least for now, ngapeth is better than kliuka, kliuka is still young, and has a long way to go. But these two have completely different playstyles, kliuka is almost half a foot taller than ngapeth, ngapeth is about craftiness to make up for his height disadvantage, whereas for kliuka, he just goes for high contact points(usually above 3.40m) and just spike over the blockers. Ngapeth plays like a smaller guy and is very different from those outside hitters that are above 6ft7.

Provavelmente não o vão fazer , neste jogo houve muitos erros da arbitragem , todos nós sabemos que o Ngapeth não teve a melhor reação mas com aquela arbitragem de merda acho que qualquer um ficava chateado , mas por exemplo o Juantorena do LUBE ainda estava a picá-lo mais , por isso acho que não vai haver punições .Os árbitros marcaram 2 faltas a contra o Zenit muito mal marcadas , foi um jogo muito roubado no geral .
