Luba 2 AWD 50 Hour Maintenance

Ғылым және технология

Luba ran for 54 hours before I was able to swap the blades around. There are 2 holes in each blade. You're supposed to run the blades for 50 hours in each hole.Sounds easy enough, but of course I make it harder. OSHA would just fine me loads. Make sure you have these items available before you start:
Razor Safe Glove(s)
#2 Phillips Screw Driver
Slothead Screw Driver
Some type of cleaning solution to clean the bolt heads.
The bolts had 50 hours of grime built up in the slots and made this task incredibly more difficult. The bolt heads really should be cleaned first.
Just a reminder, I get nothing for these videos. I'm not sponsored and do not get paid for any of them. I've just noticed a lack of video covering this little guy and felt there needed to be some. If there is a video youw ant to see, let me know. Thanks!

It would be great if they just spun backwards after 50hrs for the next 50 hours. Since the blades are double sided and the motors are electric I don't see why it couldn't be done.

Ur Doin it Wrong ! When I got my Luba 2 the first wk of March the Lawn was still wet from rain. I took advantage of the time to do a couple of slight Mod's. I needed to pull Both blade disks and so I just took a Sturdy Cardboard box, about 10" x 14", and folded the open end flaps inside to add some rigidity and dropped a folded cotton towel over the opening to protect the finish of the Luba's Polycarbonate Body. Just invert the Luba & set its camera inside the open box w/ the towel liner. I did this to provide a steady working setup for removing the Cutting Disks. I then sprayed the entire undercarriage w/ Polycarbonate friendly Silicon Spray. I also coated the Cutting Disks w/ Silicon & when everything had dried, I re-installed the Cutting Disks. The Silicon coating prevents Anything from sticking and allows me to clean the underside w/ compressed Air instead of water. There are Breathing holes located on the undersides of the Body, most likely to provide air circulation for electrical components within. Getting water into these breathing vents could Not be a goid thing. This Mower is only IPX6 protected meaning 15psi max water spray pressure. That makes it Rain resistant but Not Garden Hose spray resistant as nearly All Homes use standard 40 - 80psi water pressure. I keep the Air nozzle well away for the same reasons as I don't want to cause seal damage. The other Mod I did was to hand Wax the outer body w/ Good Carnauba Wax. This step also allows Air cleaning as all the dust & grass just blows off. Socket Head Cap Screws, like the type used to attach the Cutting Blades to the Disks, are notoriously bad at providing a good grip to a Hex Key wrench once they get exposed to dirt & grime. Clean out the compacted grass & dirt from the Cap Screw sockets w/ a pick before you attempt to use a Hex Key wrench. Also, a good American made Allen Key wrench set will Always fit better than a Chinese made wrench, even for the Metric sizes. Once you've "rounded out" a Socket Head Cap Screw the remaining options for its safe removal become very limited.

I used a plastic storage bin from Walmart. I placed a towel on top and turn the unit completely upside down. The towel had to slagged in the middle, for the camera not to have any stress on it. Food For Thought.

My next dreaded step... rotating the blades. Thanks for the demo.

I've got to replace them now. I'm at 100. Someone said it's easier to just remove the circles, so I'm going to do that next.

If you take the whole disc off, it's a little easier to work on the blades. Just 3 little screws each.

I wasn't sure if it worked that way. Also figured the blades would be easier. I'll try taking the disks off next time at 100 hours.

At 50 hours just take both blade discs off and reverse them. Right to left and left to right. That will use the other side. At 100 hours reverse the blades themselves like you did in this video. At 150 hours reverse the discs again.
