LSWQB 12v Solar powered shallow point well pump

Installed a new water pump off of the sand point well. It runs directly off of the solar panels, no battery required.

update: pump has died. I never covered it so it was exposed to the elements for over a year. My fault. We just acquired a bulldozer so we'll probably be just abandoning this and digging down to expose the water table, then pounding a shorter section of pipe and point. Already ordered a replacement pump of the same type. I'll probably cover it this time. No guarantees though.

Even though I got my tasks done quicker and better than most of my co-workers they would often, in good fun, taunt me by calling me a "half assed" whatever. So, what I did was to proudly display the appropriate mathematical symbols on my toolbox and welding helmet: S/2. They apparently never got past 3rd grade math so they had to ask me what it meant. They enjoyed it when I explained it to them, hope that you do too.

So since there is no battery, when the sun shines the pump runs? What solar panels are those? Do you know what gpm you are getting?

How deep is your Sandpoint? I am curious about the lift on this pump, I am needing to complete a similar project.

Is it TRULY hooked directly to the solar panels? Or is it hooked to a battery that is being charged by solar panels? Is straight to solar panels, does it have trouble starting? Brushed motors typically do.

Hi there.... I'm JUST about to buy the same water pump is it still working? How long do you regulary let it run continuously? Thanks in advance

The original pump is no longer functioning BUT I also let it sit in the elements unprotected so I am willing to take the blame for it going dead. It was running for our non frozen months(about 6) uninterrupted with the exception of night time.

Not every time. Every few days it will lose prime though. I've been thinking of making an inverted bell on top to keep a decent amount of water standing directly on the head so that it should always keep enough water to self prime

There's other videos on the channel but it is simply a sand point with a 12' stick of galvanized piping pounded into the ground with a check valve and couplers to adapt to the inlet of the pump. It was powered by 4-100 watt solar panels pushing out 12v I haven't gotten it running yet this year due to two children under 4 years old dominating any of my non working time.
