Good Day from the Future; 3/10/2024 I love my 2004 Z06 Commemorative LS6 Corvette. I bought it new. I've owned MOPARS in the past. Three 440 Magnums, a 383, a 340 and a 318. Great Engines for their day. My LS6 has 131,000 miles on it, no leaks, runs like new, gets good gas milage on the highway and still has the original factory clutch. Best Engine that I've ever owned. Hey Chris, Nice video. Was wondering if you could answer this for me, were there any coolant lines behind the block because I have a coolant leak back there and was wondering if I need to pull my manifold off to get to them, I have a 01 camaro ss with a LS6 intake that was put on 4 years ago. Yes you have the coolant blocks in the back. Those leak regularly. It's small aluminum blocks on the top of the heads in the rear.

Gday mate just wondering whether you got the factory 4 port steam line working ok with the ls6 manifold? Did you have to do any cutting of the underside? Cheers

Yes I took out a line of ribs and pushed down the steam ports

Easiest way to tell is the X in between the intake ports (plastic shape) vs the LS6 which is not X just reg plastic squares.

Was trying to replace cold air intake with aftermarket. While doing so a grommet fell off of old intake tube and rolled under attached manifold. How screwed am i?

You should be able to get it out, not a lot space underneath.

Some LS6 intake cam on LS1 my 04 GTO 5.7 LS1 came Factory with the LS1 LS6 intake

After looking it up all ls1 intakes after 2001 came with the ls6 intake.

@@MRdarthvenom yes I've also heard there's two LS6 Factory intakes possibly I think I was reading something about the LS6 intake on the early ls1s ones in a revised LS6 intake on the later LSI thinking 04 Corvette GTO not sure though

I see that you can buy really inexpensive stainless steel braided steam vent crossover pipes like you showed in the vid but they’re more aesthetic. Can you simply buy a steel braided version of that instead of the junkyard one you showed, and install for looks? Perhaps better venting as well

That is true. But I ended up using the stock ls1 vents

So i have a 2003 vette , dont i have an ls1 intake? and i should use a ls6 intake? does the throttle body matter? and isn't this piece the only difference from an ls6 engine or z06 engine?

You have an LS1 motor but it comes with an ls6 intake. The z06 had better heads but GM started using the ls6 intake on corvettes after 2001 and Camaros/trans ams after 2002. That is the main reason why power jumped in those years.

Whats the hp difference between the ls1 manifold and ls6?

I just watched a video on KZread five minutes ago that said if the intake numbers are on the passenger side it is an LS1. If the numbers are on the driver side it is an LS6 ? Who knows about this and is it true?

The numbers are all on the same side.

should specify like the ls1 manifold is the worst intake gm made on ls in terms of performance.

get you a dorman 615-901 it has the 4 bolt TB

All you have to do is look on the bottom of the intake and they look way differentthere's no way it comes off of a 2002 Camaro cuz Camaros never had the ls6's only Corvettes Cadillacs and that's pretty much it not even the gto's had them

You are wrong. 2002 trans ams and 2002 camaro ss and z28 had the last intake. I know this for a fact because I owned a 2002 z28 and a 2002 trans am ws6

@@MRdarthvenom I thought you were talking motor LS6 just an intake possible I'm still not 100% sure on that one the LS6 intake ain't all that anyways people spend their time on that intake when they should be looking for the Chevy super sport Blazer intake a lot better not only that you can go by the aftermarket dorman intake and it's the same as the LS6 it's even a little better it's closer to the SS intake

Every 2001 & 2002 Camaro Z28 / SS and Trans Am/WS6 Came with LS6 intakes and I think a bigger cam… Some Z28 and Trans Am’s had a LS6 block and Intake ..

so its cool to take advantage of guys who don't know what they have?

@@jessies1509 yes. 98-00 Camaros/trans ams had the ls1 intake and TB the 00-02 Camaros and trans ams had the LS6. The 04 ls1 GTO also has the ls6 intake manifold. 05/06 GTO has the 90mm gen4 LS2 tb and intake manifold

Also, 00-02 fbodies and 04GTO have the 3.5” throttle cam on the throttle body (the butterfly lever on the side where the throttle cable attaches to) whereas the 98-00 fbodies had the inferior; smaller 3” throttle cam. Just to know what you’re looking at. Basically if you see the smaller throttle levered TB, it’s most likely attached to the inferior LS1 intake manifold and not the LS6 intake manifold
