    With using the whole nb3 drama thing as an example , I'd like to remind you all that growing hate towards others without knowing their full story is a horrible thing to do. We all have heard rumors about someone and see people believing those rumors without further investigation but in the end, we got to know more about that person and realized that it was all misinformation. Hating on someone just because you've been told that they are a bad person does not make you a better person.

  • @lightthehodgehog

    Absolutely. I'm not sure how many people are familiar with the drama that happened between the streamers Smallant and Pointcrow, but to make a long story short: at least in my opinion, the whole situation was a mess of differing personality types not recognizing each other's needs properly, miscommunication of expectation, and for the most part non-malicious mistakes. The whole thing blew up into accusations of content stealing, purposeful vilification, and all sorts of other claims. When really, it was two people expecting something reasonable of the other, but not properly communicating those expectations and so falling out. Again, "in my opinion" do your own research to confirm that was the core issues. But my point is that once I knew the "whole story" I realized that both were not bad people, and neither acted out of spite or were unreasonable. They were just imperfect humans that failed to communicate properly (an easy thing to fail at) and played very very poorly off each other.

I feel that the hatred towards him really grew with all of the negativity LS sent his way throughout the past year etc etc. But I still don't know which way to lean, but Professor Akali's video made me think that he might also have been wrongfully treaten by the community & LS etc etc.

    I think people are primarily using the term simping in the context of white knighting. Then he tries to shield himself with "I suck dick." I think he's probably a great disadvantage because he experiences the Western world and our societal evolution through the internet which isn't entirely reflective of reality. The left online is far more hypersensitive and aggressive than they are in the real world typically. In typical LS fashion he doubles down. No I would say his dislike of nightblue would probably be understandable in this instance he's running with blinders on. NB3 fell off the face of the Earth for me with the QTpie stuff and I thought he was being overly sensitive and annoying and wanting to be the victim so bad. Interestingly, Florence seems to be playing that role in this instance though to a lesser extent. That's not like she was exactly the kindest person with her actions and then created a tweet insinuating something that wasn't quite there. I'm all for a progressivism and us changing what is and is unacceptable but if he doesn't know who Florence is and we collectively think just the term whore is no longer acceptable then I don't think we have any proof that he did anything wrong and it's all just assumption. Not to mention even if he did know it was a female he wouldn't know that she would see it because she wouldn't see it because it would auto mute him. Not to mention this feature has been kind of the latest riot meme with various streamers that could just be him exercising the new features for meme like qualities. Honestly this game is enough to make most people lose their mind so I'll certainly give all of them the benefit of the doubt. You combine that with Reddit Twitch and Twitter and you wonder how they retain their sanity.

    For reference, as an American: the word ill in this context does generally imply [mentally] ill. Yes there are many types of "ill" but it's extremely uncommon to use [physically] ill in reference to what's seen as socially improper or immoral action. While technically possible that LS meant [physically] ill, that is unlikely and he gave no compelling reason why he would mean it in any other way then the norm, [mentally] ill, in that case. In terms of personal opinion, I think fully meant [mentally] ill and is trying to backtrack on that. At the same time though, said "ill" part of the drama is not really important to the main problem and argument being made by either side.

  • @lightthehodgehog

    @lightthehodgehog

    Жыл бұрын

    Now I'm just thinking about it more. The primary reason why I feel that LS did mean [mentally] ill in this context beyond "well people just don't use the word like that" is that the sentence is actually borderline non-sensical if using [physically] ill. I don't know how this is in other languages (I only speak English), however a large part of peoples standard written (and even spoken) vocabulary assumes the reader knows the context. Both words with multiple meanings and sentence structure has effectively "metadata" that is not actively written/spoken as it's assumed the reader already knows or can easily infer that metadata. A trick you can do to double check which meaning of an English word is being used or get a better idea of the intent behind a sentence/statement is attempting to recreate the sentence/statement with the metadata included. As many words that have multiple uses like that are used to describe more complex concepts in a single word, you restructure the sentence replacing the word with the descriptions of the more complex concepts. "She didn't even say anything bad. You're ill" becomes either: [physically] ill: "Flornce did not say something worth her being viewed negatively or as an aggressor. The only reason [NB3] you could justify reacting like that is if you were fighting off an infection in your body" [mentally] ill: "Flornce did not say something worth her being viewed negatively or as an aggressor. The only reason [NB3] you could justify reacting like that is if there was something significantly wrong with your mind or personality" With this method, I think the 2nd option makes sense while the 1st does not. However, looking at the 2nd option with the metadata included, it seems fairly tame and that he was only using the word ill to get across "something wrong with you" with emphasis on it's severity and reference to a problematic personality. Weather or not using [mentally] ill in that context is derogatory is an issue in and off itself though.

    @@lightthehodgehog Yeah, it would make 0 sense to actually meant physically ill. I’m not advocating for toxicity. Nowadays, I /mute all in like 90%+ of my games. That said, the number of times I’ve been called things in this game over the years, including being called a whore amongst MUCH MUCH worse, and Im quite certain I’m not alone in that. Therefore, that appears to be more the norm than anything. So, wouldn’t NOT treating a female the same way be the sexist move rather than actually calling them names? If that’s the culture y’all want, then let it be as such. - If it’s not, don’t let these types of comments be made by anyone toward anyone.

    I agree overall. Just to add something onto that: I will say for me personally, it’s very disheartening to hear words like “c*nt”, “n**ger”, “c*ink”, etc used because these are words historically used to demean a particular group of people. When these words are used generically to attack any random on the internet (e.g. calling your jungler a “c*nt” or “n**ger”), even though you’re not flaming them *because* of their race or gender, by using that derogatory term, you are implying that the group of people you reference is less than. Hope that made some sense. While I completely understand where you’re coming from, some words have painful implications, and thus our language can’t be truly blind to race and gender, etc.

    I'm sure everyone included could've been nicer, but I will forever be apart of the trope that unless nightblue releases the full vod unedited for people to interrupt on their own, then I will always think nightblue will be in the wrong here. In our American judicial system, there is no edit videos allowed in court. Each side must see the full length video evidence unfiltered to then show to the jury and/or judge. I understand he did it to avoid hate, but thats just the thing. To avoid hate, to avoid guilt, the internet is not a courtroom, but to me I feel if you are deleting evidence and not allowing the public to see the whole story you are hiding something.

    It doesn't really matter even if he did. Calling someone a whore in the game, won't even show the word to players. It would just restrict the person who typed that said word, to not type in chat anymore and to also announce it to other players. So how did this Sona even know what he typed in the first place? By clipping the vod out of context. If this bitch ass Sona wasn't even a girl, no one's gonna talk about this shit. Toxicity's in the game and she shouldn't have seen the word but she did anyway. Also, LS accusing someone with no context, doesn't give him the right to berate someone. You're just cancelling and witch hunting a person who doesn't even want to engage on drama. Nightblue took a long break just to get away from all the shit that he did and all the drama that he caused. He's just trying to play the game and stream again but this Katarina and Sona players are literal dogshit. Throughout the game, Nightblue wasn't even mad. Hell, I would type something worse if I was in his position.
