Bobby really well spelled out.. I was programming a Bolero on a virtual kit for writing purposes and this really helped. many thanks !

Thanks, there seems to be lots of confusion about Rumba/ Bolero out there. Took me forever to figure out what a ballroom Rumba was. From what I understand, and according to Jim Riley in his book "Survival Guide for the modern Drummer", a Ballroom Rumba is essentially a Cuban Bolero.

Listen to Cal Tjader's "Soul Sauce" album from 1964. The songs "Somewhere in the Night" and "Spring is Here" both use this beat.
