Barry takes us to South Central LA, where lowriding had its beginnings, to meet with Fernando Ruelas and Julio Ruelas, founders of the "Duke's Car Club," the world's oldest and largest lowrider car club in continuous existence. The brothers inspired a new generation of collectors and moved the lowrider phenomenon from America to Europe and Asia, helping to inspire the tuner craze now sweeping the country. Episode 9017

My father, Dimas Ruben DeAnda, seen at 1:43, third from the top left, seldomly talked about, was one of the "original" members along with Julio, Fernando, Ernie and Oscar Ruelas. My father lived on 24th and Long Beach, just up the street from "the shop". RIP Julio. I wish I could connect with the original Dukes family so that I can find out more of my dad. RIP Julio. I know your with my grandma Cuca now.
I talked with Julio in 1981 at the Phoenix super show .my brother was setting up his car with a phoenix car club and I was walking around and saw his 39 so he came over and showed it to me and gave me a quick history about the Dukes.We talked for about 2 hours about cars and most importantly life in general.I will never forget that moment.oh by the way I still have that lowrider magazine Phoenix edition where Julio won best in show

I was lowe riding 27 year ago and I have a 2004 Chrysler town and country I wish my days come to life one more time I am a 50 year old man in was gun shut in the middle of his progress of getting things done my wife left me my I got divorced I end up in a wheel chair trying to defend her and my wish is to be ok with everything in life with a lowerider

Juio and Fernando had their heart in the car club..may they rest in peace ...so glad Alex not president of the car club he has no idea how to run anything mommy stil spoon feeds him...heard Jason wife took the car club over hoping she runs it better then greedy Gloria ...
