In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens kzread.infoUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

This is EXACTLY what I've been waiting for! I'm ready to replace all the sonar electronics and trolling motor on my bass boat. Came close to pulling the plug on the Garmin line. However, I really do like the Lowrance Ghost trolling motor better. One thing Lowrance needs to add to their HDS Live screens that Garmin EchoMap has is the ability to quickly zoom into a particular screen in a multi-layout by simply touching or double-touching that section (ie. Map, Sidescan or Downscan) and quickly return to the selected layout by selecting the BACK menu item.

I'm a diehard Lowrance fan and this is what I've been waiting for. I actually waited until mid-September to order the Livesight because I was sure they were working on something new. I couldn't wait any longer and ordered it. Now I'm planning on selling the Livesight to order the Active Target. My wife says I get too impatient on things, I guess she's right!!! The only saving grace is that I hurt my back at work the first of October about three days after receiving the Livesight and it is still in the box brand new. Now my back is to where I can go fishing and I'm ready to order the Active!!! Thanks for the video, great job!!!

Dear Lawren! It s an awasome video, Congratulate from Hungary! i am using HDS Live 12 with active imaging 3-1 transducer, and I am really satisfied with the whole system (had instruments from HDS gen2 so DieHard Lowrance user) and was waiting for the new product. On the first day of the launch I feel pretty good, that we have at least a same quality product than Garmin, but this video convinced me that It might be better..1500USD is a good price, in our Country Hungary ist 2500USD..Which is a little bit strange for me..But the product is awesome! Thank you very much for your good presentation!

Disappointed with the Lowrance mapping, for the first time I am looking at other brands. Think that it will be a Solix 12, for iPilot, Autochart and eventually the 360 (once they go to a fixed transducer array).

Ounce i finally got he livesight I was extremely disappointed and mad on myself for not purchasing Garmin. I just purchase the 126 sv echo m and the Panoptix to replace a gen3 unit and plan on replacing the other Gen 3 unit in the future. I was in Minnesota in august and fished on a boat that had Panoptix and I won’t be fooled again. I’m glad Lowrance is trying to improve but for me it is too late.

Thanks for the informative reviews. I'm looking to upgrade my Terrova 80lb 60" Minn Kota to the newest version but 112lb due to my boat size: 24' Tracker Fishing Barge. I fish an average of 20 trips annually so with good down and side scan performance can get on the fish regularly. Live scope seems to direct all attention to the screen and that's not why I'm an outdoors enthusiast. My current trolling motor does a decent job but the boat is huge and could use more power in windy conditions. Only issue I've experienced is losing Spot Lock on occasion and a poor installation by Bass Pro Shops. I've read some horrendous reviews on the Ulterra model with the auto store going out and poor customer service from Minn Kota. Also, looking to upgrade my electronics from a Hook9 Lowrance to Garmin unit for networking with the matching trolling motor, mostly for auto contour trolling. I primarily fish for crappie, walleye, sauger and bass on a reservoir in Illinois. With all the mixed product reviews, its very difficult to make an educated decision on product line. I'm under the impression that Garmin leads the market in technology for marine electronics, but have mixed reviews on their trolling motor. What is your professional opinion on switching to the Garmin electronics and trolling motor for a fisherman with my frequency of fishing?

  • @InDepthSonar

I would agree that Garmin leads the way with sonar right now. Personally I don't find their units all that easy to use when compared with other brands. From the trolling motor standpoint I feel what you have heard is correct. I would get a Lorance Ghost or Minn Kota Ultrex at this point

Yes I get that was a Black Friday sale which is sad at this point all of this stuff is insanely over priced. Once all the people with crazy diposable incomes get these units. They will have to drop prices or go under. You will nevwr get the average fishermen to drop 12k to rig out thier boat. I’m a Lowrance guy but all this playing catch-up is getting old. It doesn’t appear that there’s any significant advancements over livescope. It seems like they just set out to match what garmin has on the market not to be a leader. I could understand business strategy if they we going for volume sales and pricing products for less than the leader, but nope. Lowrance is stuck on making max profit off of each unit and then not backing up their products when people have issues. Lowrance also seems to ignore the ice fishing market imo. They would have sold many more units by putting together ice videos of it in action. Maybe this was because panoptics was cheaper. After owning 10 different Lowrance units I see no advantage to buying another one.

It's a revolving door every couple months they gonna come out with better stuff it's just how much of your money are you willing to keep throwing at catching a fish. That in itself takes the enjoyment out of fishing for me.
