Lowering Spring Installation ~ Swapping Out Adjustable Lowering Springs
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Lowering MK8 Golf R on HR lowering Springs. In this video we ditch the "adjustable" lowering springs on the MK8 for lowering springs at a fixed height. In addition to lowering the MK8, we install camber plate on the front, and adjustable rear camber arms all from @034motorsport . Finally upgrading the MK8R wheels and tires.

Just a heads up: they changed the torque spec on the hub bolts (in the front at least) a few years back: Now it's 200 Nm + 90 degrees if the bolt is grey. 180 degrees if black.

My experience with the original 034 "Dynamic and Camber" strut mounts for my 2018 R was not a good one. Harsh banging over sharp bumps, completely unacceptable for a new car at this price point. Issue completely cured by returning to stock mounts. To get my negative camber, I procured a set of Clubsport S spindles which added 1.0 degree neg camber and also installed Superpro LCA's with added caster. I have 2.2 degrees of negative front camber and great turn-in. Thanks for another awesome video. Interesting and informative as always!

I'm so jealous of how good your wheel hubs still look. No lie, I had rust showing on the 45 degree face on right rear after 3 weeks. Got worse when I tried to touch it up, didn't feel like trying to warranty so, I got a can of matching color high-temp caliper paint, masked everything, prepped and painted both rear. Looks better than stock. I do have an open warranty claim w/ dealer on the rubber window trim which looks pre-aged all around the car. I'm just not feeling very lucky with mine. I see what you were talking about with the wear on the lugs.

Actually the egg came first. And the logical explanation is, that during the evolution the last step before an egg with a chicken inside was laid; the one that laid that egg wasn't quite a chicken. Thinking of swapping out my Adjustable H&R springs to either racing line or Neuspeed springs on my mk8. Hitting bumps in the current ones are pretty brutal.
I just got the Camster plates and rear control arm for adding Camber to my 2023 RS3. Excited to try them out at the track. Have you tested it out yet? Any advice on alignment? I was thinking I should be at about -3 degrees front, so I'll probably try about -2 on the back. I also swapped from the staggered setup to 265 18" square.

I did the H&R springs a couple months ago on my mk8 R and found they are moderately stiff (comfort feels like what race used to feel like) and I bottom out on highway bumps sometimes and the cruise sensors freak out until the car starts again. Probably gonna get the KW DCC compatible coilovers in the fall so it will feel more comfy and not bottom out from the reduced travel.

I know you mention the camber arm hitting the subframe when up on a lift then mention if you’re racing and pick an inner rear wheel up it could happen again. Wouldn’t the sway bar not allow the inner wheel to travel that far down since the outer wheel is acting as a torsion spring to the inner wheel? I could be wrong.
Do you have to run the basic settings on the shocks when fitting new springs ?

I love your work man. So detail oriented. I have a question about wheels actually. If I change size from 18 to 19 isn't there a setting in the infotainment system for that also? Anyway, the bronze wheels are nuts. All the mids you do on your cars are very OEM+ which is brilliant.

Look at all that shiney newness. I'm used to rusty oldness. What are the rear camber arms for? Stock adjustment is enough ya? Assuming similar to my S3, These understeer so much, more -camber in the back isn't better. I'm only running -1 and its plenty.
