Lowering Ride Height To Gain Negative Camber

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

After going to the race track I realized I did not have enough negative camber. One of the easiest ways to gain more negative camber is to lower the car. The problem is that this also changes the toe and I had to readjust the alignment after lowering the coilovers.

My 2002 BMW Z3 M roadster has 2deg too and it eats tires like 8000 miles max on a nice set of yoko's but the grip is so good. It's nice to see and enjoy build like this because it is something you can do unlike so many KZread big money builds.

@@fryreartechnology7611 that is a massive amount of toe. You will destroy tires quickly with that much! Have you added eccentric tabs to the subframe? You can also raise the rear on the e30 subframe to decrease toe-in.

@@wmwnwmn before I got it the sub frame was replaced because it ripped apart then had the BMW glue in reinforcements. Not many people know about them doing that. The torque of the S54 can do some damage.

@@fryreartechnology7611 Mcoupe/roadster subframe floor repairs is a different issue. You need to weld in a camber correction kit and dial out that toe. You can do whatever you'd like, but I can promise you that running 1/8" total toe in (1/16" each side) and -2 deg camber will increase your tire wear significantly. Also, get non-directional tires and flip them on the rim (so that the inside becomes the outside) since you cannot do tire rotations on the M roadster.

So if all I'm wanting to do is lower the car about an inch or two it will gain camber?

Curious how many flats are you noticing you need to turn the toe rods? I assume for just 1/16 off it's a small adjustment

Yes it was a very small adjustment. I don't remember how much though.
