Sweet video Andy, I originally wanted Black Rhino wheels fitted to my van, couldn't find anyone that could help with tyre sizing on a standard set up, so i gave up and went for another wheel choice. I love how THQ like to experiment with ideas and try different things out ! Personally I think these look smart the colours definitely suit the van, I wish I had waited for this video to come along before I bought mine lol.

Id be like the original customer with my needs and how often I need at max lift. Ive a 4Mo on Devonports but would like to go Air as well as nicer/bigger wheels so this is a great video thanks. I dont like the complete slammed look though so am considering VB Suspension By the way..... your lights are EPIC !! Cheers for getting the order over to Ireland

Mines being done on Tuesday, 20" staggered Vossen's and Revo big brake kit coming off, and 17' Fuel Coverts going on with that tyre setup. Bus will stay on air ride.

Looks great, after an opinion I have a T5.1 T32 Kombi highline standard suspension and struggling in which wheel direction to go. Was going to do the 20” route but the more AT wheels I see the more I like them especially for comfort. However you don’t see many silver vans especially sport line front ended T5.1’s with swamper style wheels. So wondered what you’d go for? 👍🏻

Honest opinion.. I don't think the sportline look works with AT wheels. Take the sportline off though, it should just be screwed in place :)

Brill vid! I’ve ordered a new California T6.1(ascot gray) with vw 30mm lowering springs. It’s coming with parmelston 18” from factory. I’d love this alternative look. Would these wheels work in terms of load rating and what tyre size would you recommend if they fit? Thanks

They are a different tyre with a different noise rating, thread pattern and wet grip. You need to compare the on a tyre site.

What does this do to the VW warranty on a new van? I’d love to change to bigger AT tyres on my new van but concerned the change in rolling radius would invalidate warranty on the drivetrain.

I’ve never heard of anyone having issues and thousands of people do it.

I just picked up my new T6.1 shuttle in Fortana red last week to haul my dogs around in (Middle row of seats removed) and to use as a day van after the lock down ends for day tripping. Looking for Limo tint all round and about a 35mm lift. I think those wheels in that colour would set off the van nicely, but I have spoken to quite a few people who have gone down the swamper route and they all have conflicting stories of what rubs and what doesn't, what's drivable and what's not... I like BFG tyres but don't know what size would work on these without rubbing (either stock ride height or lifted) and as far as I know, no one is recalibrating the 6.1 speedo yet?

We’ve not tried an 18 yet. We’ve had these made the right width and et so they don’t as a 17. Speak to Matt at T5 upgrades. He’s the expert.

Would the ride quality be any different running these on a T5 on solows compared to banded steels 235×55×17 ?

A ran 235/35 winter tyres. Drive height is about 36psi front and 60 rear. That would vary massively across vehicles though down to what’s in them.

30mm lowering springs at most. Eibach's are good for it, you get a lowered look but still retain full motion of the wheel.

This of the fuel zephyr wheel are the correct width and offset. If the van we talk about the most popular sizes for standard suspension. It’s towards the end. Hope this helps

Fuel wheels are £1150 a set. You can get tyres from around £125 a corner.

I don't think you can get an 18" AT tyre in the right size to work with air. We looked in to it at the time. Use willtheyfit.com and compare the sizes to what we used on a 17".

Do the rears have spacers on the back? If so mm? Would you suggest 15mm spacers on slolows at mid drop ride height . ?

Depends on the width of the wheels. You rears won't catch so it's only about looks.

Most tyre places have a bead cheater. (We do too now! haha)

Do these drive ok at 75-80mm drop? No rubbing ? Definitely a marmite style but i absoultely love the look 👍

Your Van looks nice on those Swamper wheels, but I would have gone all black, with the state of the roads running the lower profiles can be problematic as you are always trying to find a smooth line. A friend has 35's on an A5 coupe and they are more like rubber bands, no wonder the higher profiles feel more comfortable. In this world don't follow the herd, branch out and find your own style, if not we will end up in boring grey place, with Ed Sheeran on repeat.

I really liked the bronze BBS so wanted to do bronze on the AT wheels. That and fuel made the prototypes in bronze so we don't have an option! haha. Yes it does feel way way more comfy than my standard 225/35 20's :)

You can run 235/65r17 or 255/55r18 (255/55's are really close to the 275/40r20's people run... mm's at most) on a 30/40mm drop at most but they fit without any rubbing except in certain circumstances. Honestly, with the roads being as shit as they are nowadays i don't see the point in low profile tires anymore. I'd rather have more rubber and not be worrying about will i bottom out a rim on that biggish bump over there.

255/55/18 is really big. We had a customer try it and it did rub. 275/40/20 is also too big really though. 235/65/17 is a good size.

@@THQAutomotive Depends on the lowering tbh. Slammed or at 50mm or lower it'll rub for sure. I know the 255/55r18's fit on a 30mm lowered as i had that on my van (t5.1 with some generic 18x9's) no problem. Only if i hit a speedbump full pelt or full lock did it rub and even then it was negligible and dependent on where the van was (on a slope or at an angle ect.) On a 30mm drop the 255's will have a pretty much even gap around the arch... enough to squeeze your fingers/hand in and clear any debris from the tread if needed but obviously not like lifted lol. The 255's are technically identical in diameter to the 235's brand dependent just wider. The 275's are standard for companies like leighton vans who use a 40mm lowering spring on theirs. A/T tires are the way forward though for vans imo as it completely changes the ride quality from somewhat jarring to almost SUV like.

@@dodo19923 275/40/20 it too big, companies fit them because they are cheap and over load rated. The rolling radius is wrong, they look too big and they are really hard. To give the tyre that load rating they have super hard sidewalls. 255/55/18 will also have the wrong rolling radius. Rub will also depend on the ET and width of the wheel.

@@THQAutomotive Fair do's... I can only speak from personal experience and never had any issues to speak of but then i don't really run my cars/vans to spec. I'm running 225/65r17's at the min on 17x8's on my new(ish) van as it's all i could get hold of at the time. Will probably look at the 235/65r17's on a 17x8.5 when the time comes to upgrade them as i like the more rounded look it gives but still have more to go before i get to that stage. I didn't know that's why they fit 275's but i guess if it somewhat works then whatever, it's not really the way i like things but each to their own i guess .The alpine speaker kit is most likely next on my list now i've finished the lining in the back which was a pain in the arse to do lol. You guys got engine work done with Darkside Developments iirc... Any issues come up or would you recommend them when i get round to remaps/engine mods ect?

@@dodo19923 Darkside were great. The Flatbed is currently in The Netherlands at THQ EU but its running lovely

Pretty pointless exercise, when the first hint of mud or snow will fill the gap in the arches and turn the tyres into slicks as the tread is packed full. If you want to run silly low ride height, just stick with normal rubber, the M&S's are completely wasted.

Thanks for your comment but when it snows I can just lift it. The air suspension goes higher than standard height. I always run mud and snows in the winter. They've been great on several trips to the Alps snowboarding.

That's an abomination. Absolutely hideous and incredibly embarrassing. Nothing wrong with the wheels, but the amount it is lowered is shambolic.
