oh boy ! my second animatic in (checks notes) nearly two years !
I started this literally the Day after 2/2 LMAO this animatic took SO long only because like, a shitzillion things happened inbetween. I took part in a school play that absorbed several evenings, did my finals, moved HOUSE, and if it weren't for me being on the hashtag grind the past week I would've gone to an entirely different country too.
considering how the song is based on An Urgent Appeal by Dazai Osamu AND the mv is literally just "what if Jesus and the disciples were girls" AND it is entirely from Judas' perspective, you'd THINK that it'd be an AKECHI animatic. but ohoho. it's not so shrimple
this is basically a palace Akiren au taking place during the end of the 3rd semester. you know how the Phantom Thieves accidentally made Maruki God by placing their trust in him? It's like that ! and also a mix of my Madoka Magica brainrot ! in summary I made him kin (REBELLION SPOILERS) because I thought it would fit. shoutout to Maruki for giving the boy Azazoth and five new mental illnesses. this is the opposite of what therapy's meant to do

0:08: (Akechi voice) hi Akira I hope you're doing well on this fine december day :) why do I have no memories after Shido's palace btw
0:10 attrition definition: the wearing down/gradual reduction of something. sanding something down, essentially
0:13 there are obviously differences between Shido and Maruki but their similarities lies in how Akechi was affected. under both of them Akechi has to essentially die, conforming to them whilst having little control over his own life. Akechi takes revenge against Shido in order to feel control, whilst Akechi fights Maruki to save everyone's autonomy
0:19 this is actually the first frame I coloured ! I coloured most of the frames out of order
0:26 I would be more inclined to Morgana's god asigned humansona if he was more catlike tbh
0:32 this pmv contains some of my favourite Akechis I've drawn. this is one of them

2:02 fool's mate ! where you lose a game in only two moves. hey do you ever think about how in the good ending Akechi is alive so if Akiren took Maruki's offer he would not only do it for nothing but doom Akechi to hate him irreversibly. instead of letting him recover and be friends again

I was mentally thinking "oh this is making me FEEL things" throughout the entire time and feeling emotional about everything in this and then I saw the frames w/ maruki/rumi and joker/akechi and I AUDIBLY SCREAMED. The parallels between both relationships make me INSANE

Oh. My. God. I wasn’t even looking for persona animatics today but i saw this and was curious and oh my god. This is. Painful. So much pain. Yet so so so good! When it flashes between him dancing with “akechi” and dancing with a corpse was so good! And when everyone was wondering where he was on the deadline date, omg. (So eloquent and descriptive, i know XD) But seriously, this is sad. “I’m tired of fighting gods and i’m tired of fighting you”!!!!! PAIN! And when he gives back his glove??? MORE PAIN! And how it starts with them dancing happily to them… dancing… afterwards…. AHHHHH THIS IS SO GOOD

aaaaaaaa your comment is eloquent enough tysm !!! when I saw the dancing imagery in the original mv for the song I was like oh this is PERFECT for these two. I remember coming up with the glove sequence and being immediately hit with damage because augh, aughahg,,,,
I watched this when it came out but didn’t really understand much since I skimmed through P5Royal lore, so this prompted me to go do research, and then I got into PMMM later. I already knew and have read An Urgent Appeal + Lower One’s Eyes. I am back at this video again and I believe it just shattered me to pieces.

Only found this recently, but I’ve already watched it again and again. It encapsulates the tragedy of the bad end. Only good intentions all round, but ultimately things work out. This looks really good, good work making all this! (Love the artists notes by the way, it’s cool seeing you explain your thought processes behind each part of the animation)
hhjhdhdjdjkd… omg… this is amazing! after watching i had to do a little frame-by-frame bc the art here is literally jaw-dropping. Gotta say, the frame at 1:41 has gotta be one of my faves… the look of anger before it gets wiped away is depicted so well. Also the doorframe parallel w/the bulkhead door is soo cool, esp since how each time, it’s a different one of them causing that separation. tldr: this is such an awesome animatic

Hello, I rewatch and brainrot over this video a completely normal and healthy amount :) (the woman lied as easily as she breathed) I never thought about the Phantom Thieves panicking wondering where the hell Akira is on the final day, that is SUCH a painfully good idea!! god help me I cant get over Akechi's split second expression at 1:41 it's so full of hatred it gives me chills, then it gets wiped away and you're left with a confused oblivious 'Akechi' HHHGRRGRRR IT HURTS SO MUCH IT'S TOO GOOD I'M GOING FERAL Akira dancing with a corpse, Lavenza realizing what he's done, the Akira/Akechi Maruki/Rumi parallels, 'destroying the world in the name of love'UUUGHNGADSASKAAAAA ok im normal again. This has to be one of my favourite ever P5R 'bad end' animatics, it just delves into the fucked up aspects of the fake reality so well and it hurts so bad and that's what makes it SO DAMN GOOD-!! Also today I learned what a Fool's Mate is, the more you know✨

I absolutely loved the animatic!! AAAAA I was just thibking to myself what is this song but p5R AND BOOM IT APPEARED. DREAMS DO COME TRUE also i just wanted to say the chessboard scene made me giggle a little though I LOVED the implcation of whar it means. I took it as the board being represented of like trying to make everything okay by just brute forcing it to be friends or like solving conflict by forcing each other sides? Idk it could also show the inherent wrongness of the games and how it reflects the wrong in the fake reality they have and im just taking it too far. Also the white (which im assuming presuming is Akechi) is trying to protect his king by guarding it with his Queen in a last ditch effort to save himself? Absolutely delicious. I know its for imagary stuff and thats why white didnt take the queen instead of using his queen to protect his king but i like to take it as Akechi not wanting to take his queen because he doesnt wanna hurt Akira in a sense but maybe thats my tiny little Akeshuake brain speakimg 🎆🎆 Anyways Im putting it here if it was White's turn he could immedietly eat the queen and the next move for white is instantly a checkmate. Take that as you will Also as a chess player i find it funny how they'd set that up in a real game. Like slowly moving their kings to the other side one by one. Made me rlly giggle for a while

This was amazing to watch and i loved the part where he danced with the skeleton 1:38 , it felt as if he was desecrating the memories they had and although i read in the description it was done just cause, replacing the skull with flowers added to it by making it seem as if this desecration was done in love. But at the same time disregarding any feeling akechi might have, rendering any act of love towards him to turn to pure mockery as he is forced to live as nothing but a puppet dancing at the command of someone other then himself. And the fact this was drawn so well is something to be proud of. (｢`･ω･)｢♪(┌・。・)┌
