    I have the black 1005ms on order and I thought the same thing about the pickups. The Barts don't seem bad but I really wish they had a Nordstrand option in the lower solid finish models, I would have gladly paid a little more for them. I don't really care either about the fancier woods on the 1505, just not worth the extra $400 to me, but the Nords may be worth an extra hundred or so. Thanks for your reviews of this bass, especially the head to head with the NS Wave bass, I was considering both of these basses as a lighter, more ergonomic alternative to my main bass (an 11 pound Stingray 5HH) and your review pushed me firmly over to the Ibanez.

    I have the EHB1505 (Dragon Eye Burst) and have the EHB1000 on order, but if Ibanez had more choices for finish for the normal fret EHB1000 series, I would have bought the cheaper EHB1000/1005 models instead--especially with that beautiful Sea Foam Green Matte finish like on yours. But the EHB1005 only comes in black, and I don't like how the black hardware just blends together with it. I prefer having a bit of contrast, and also I guess I wanted a bit more differentiation between the two EHB models I'll have, so I went for the EHB1505 instead.

    Thank you for your comment! My strategy is to look around on Reverb, message the sellers and try to get the best price possible. Since it's a new model that just released, there usually isn't much wiggle room. People are trying to get them quickly vs cheaply. I was very fortunate to find a vendor in Europe who got one of the first ones and shipped it here. Got mine March 2nd. Give it a shot and good luck :) In regards to the intro song, that was Fur Elise by Beethoven. It's kind of my own arrangement, and I don't really write tabs. However, if you try and get the melody, the "bass" notes are mostly 7th fret and open strings. Happy bassing, friend! :)

    Mr. Lobster, thank you very much for your insight on this Ibanez model. I have been having tons of wrist arthritis in my fretting hand for months (diagnosed with RA last year) which hasn't allowed me to jam for longer periods. A couple of my peers suggested perhaps giving a fanned fret model a try given it's more ergonomic design. I have a couple of questions: 1. Based on my viewpoint, is it difficult to play chords on the upper register of the neck? 2. How is the intonation across on this? I have played many, many straight fret setups and also with my buddy's true temperament setup. Does the fanned fretting impact the intonation? 3. Which fret is the neutral point? I've been told it varies from bass to bass. Thanks again!

  • @LowEndLobster

    @LowEndLobster

    4 жыл бұрын

    Mr. Weir, thank you for the comment! Sorry to hear about your RA. I'll do my best to answer your questions. 1. Yes, but not in the perspective of reaching things. The forward angle of the frets at the lower register of the neck IMO makes things a bit easier and more natural feeling. That being said, the upper register is where things get a bit challenging. Certain chords will definitely require a little adjustment or a change in your hand positioning/finger arrangement, but the angle on these basses is not very drastic compared to other multiscale instruments. 2. Intonation on these is OK, I had to tweak it a little but now don't have any issues. I think the 24th fret on the G string might be a hair sharp, but nothing bad enough to drive me crazy or change my opinion of the instrument. 3. Neutral point in regards to fret angle? Around the 6th-7th fret, with the angle being mostly neutral through 12. Hope that helps! Thanks again for watching :)

    I’m purely in love with this bass. I haven’t put it down other than to work/sleep/eat/comment in videos that feature it. I find that if you just roll back some of the bass you can get more treble out of it, especially if your crank the mid range selector high and give about 75% on the mid boost. I use about 40% bridge pick up 60% neck when I do that and it’s a great cut through slap tone. Obviously it can handle plenty of bass tones. What strings are you using on yours? You can throw some cobalts on there too for more brightness but let me tell you they go bad pretty fast for $$$ strings.

The longevity is the biggest thing for me personally. Having a ton of basses, I don't want to be swapping a million strings all the time. Hey David! It really depends on your wall mount, I was able to hang it on mine briefly, but I noticed it started to sink a little bit and would have eventually fallen. That being said, there are solutions that include a support for underneath the body. A two piece wall mount solution like that would probably be the most reliable. If you can't find a standard wall mount with the bottom support, you could probably use one from one of those "sideways" wall mounts. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching :)

    I can try. I'm no pro tech, BUT I do keep in touch with my tech who's actually a pro. We may have a guest star once this quarantine is (hopefully) over. What aspects are giving you trouble? I had a little bit of trouble with the intonation, but outside of that the setup is straight forward like any other bass.

    LowEndLobster Thanks for your reply! The day I bought mine, it was setup very nicely by the shop, nothing wrong, no neck bent or anything. After I’ve went home and doodle on it for a while set the string height to my taste it played so well, the intonation is still great. But the weather where I’m living changed drastically, it was raining so hard the other day, went quite hot yesterday and became a little cooler today. I picked it up and felt the neck has more relief. So I went and put on a capo on the first fret and hold on to the fret over the neck joint (as I normally do on a regular scale bass) it bent quite a bit. Then, I adjusted the truss rod and hoped that a little setup in the bridge will do, but nope, can’t manage to get the intonation perfectly as it was. If it was a normal situation I’d have brought it to the shop to get it fixed right away but because of the virus...... What’s great is that it a chance to learn to do more things by myself lol Looking forward to your future videos, and stay healthy!

    The neck is great. Similar to a 5 string soundgear by the nut, but gets a little bit wider towards the heel. Very comfortable, and not too thin (like older soundgears). I really like it. Hi, what benefits does the multi-scale give you? I read online that it is supposed to make the B string tighter and more defined but I'm unsure if 1 inch would make any difference. Also, the MS is supposed to give the treble strings (G or C) more low end. Do you find any of this to be true?

  • @LowEndLobster

    @LowEndLobster

    2 жыл бұрын

    Heyo! Yes, I find that to be true. You get the shorter scale benefits of a G and D string that aren't as 'tight' as on a 34" scale (though not drastically different) and have a little more low end, and the B string is very well defined. Many 5 string players opt for 35" scale for a better B string, though scale length isn't the only factor determining a good B.

    @@LowEndLobster Thanks for the answer! I was hyped about the new multi-scale BTB's. They have 37" B but their G is 35'. I guess they have a different application and are aimed for a different playing style. I also read that you can get a tighter B string if you get strings with a hex core. Might even make 35" play like a 37" with a round core. I might actually give it a go.
