I had the OGs like 13 years ago when I deployed to Iraq. Hands down the most comfortable boot I have EVER worn. I still have them, even though the sole and cushioning is completely worn out. I'm just so loathe to get rid of them due to the memories. I checked into resoling, but unfortunately, the construction prevents it.

Did yours have gtx/gortex in them? If so, I'd really appreciate your opinion on its effects in a desert environment and if non-gtx would be better with just some 3M water-resistant spray applied? Thanks in advance!

@@vzdown I did have the gortex version. I had no issues. They were a smidge warmer than my Rocky S2V but not in any way that would make them untenable. The few times I did encounter moisture I was glad to have it though because it was that black sludge gutter shit (literal shit) so knowing it didn't penetrate the outer layers And I could just hose them off was nice. Plus, I used them back at Hood and JRTC too which can both be extremely wet environments at times.

@@mmancino1982 Thanks for the quick response! It looks like the goretex liner isn't as much of an issue as I thought it might be. Definitely seems like a "rather have and not need" feature, so I'll go for it. Thanks again for your help and insight!

@@vzdownFrom what I’ve heard gortex is not good for hot weather or not as good. I’m looking for the best option for hot weather. I’m from Texas.

Shame they added the lace lock. I have the original high tops and I leave the laces threaded through all of the eyelets, with a knot on the end of each lace to prevent them coming out of the top eyelet. So easy and quick to get in and out of them / tighten and loosen the laces.

I wear a 10 in Merrell Moab, a 10W in Kenetrek and it looks like a 10.5W in these. The statement of "fits like your normal size" isn't true in my case. The forefoot for me is like getting kicked in the nuts, only for your feet. The upside is, Lowa customer service answers the phone and is responsive. The overall quality, fit, and finish, seems rock solid.

Are you using them in desert areas? I'm looking to get a pair but I'm not sure if the GoreTex will make them too hot when out in high-heat, low moisture environment.

That lace lock seems like an area for failure with a plastic locking mechanism.

have a pair and i like it. wont open up all the way and you can lock it in place. it doesnt look/feel like cheap plastic. its more a ABS kind.

Had to disagree at some points. You know, that You don't need to do and undo the lace lock mechanism every day, right? For every day use just set it for nice in between, not too tight, not too loose, and putting boots on and off is no problem. Set them once, and forget. Second thing. You have completely missed the fact, that laces can be hidden in dedicated nook. Lastly, nobody mention how SILENT are those soles. Never came across the perfect sole to prevent mud to be stuck, and probably will never see such, but I feel like ninja in them. Amazing quality in this field. Overall not biased, but comparing to other boots I used over a decade or so, like salomons, haix's, meindl's, those are really on the top now.

How is the out sole in wet floors or wet concrete, compared to the previous Zephyrs? Cause the previous ones were super slippery. This ones are supposed to have non-slip sole, are they better?

I got my pair of Zephyr Mk2 today, but they feel slightly narrower than the *many* other pairs of Lowas I had in the past 25 years. Would you say they stretch out/widen a little with use? Because if they do, they will be perfect, if they don't, I'll probably return them and get the wide version instead.

Have you had a problem with them squeaking? My new pair does it all the time and i cant figure out if they are defective or the noise will go away if i just wear them in more.

I suspect if they squeak then they always will. Is it an air sound? Or the traction on a surface?

@@outerlimitless So i looked into it and turn out its the laces, specifically the bottom half when they strech and contract while walking. The more i tighten them the more they squeak. I could walk around with them a bit looser but im not used to it and i hate the feeling where they aren't snug/tight.
