Low's Alan Sparhawk on the 5 records that most influenced him

Ойын-сауық

Pitchfork 2019 managed to overcome the sweltering heat (it broke 100 degrees, people) and deliver one of the best iterations of the festival in recent years. Among the highlights was a blistering set from Low, who pulled off a beautifully ambitious performance of elegant noise despite the temperature. Singer-guitarist Alan Sparhawk stopped by for a visit with The A.V. Club, where he talked about the five records that most influenced him as an artist.

Earlier this year I drove 10 hours with my wife to see them in Sante Fe at Meow Wolf on my birthday. It was amazing.

Very underrated band. I saw them once in the late 90s and I thought it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. My friends were really snobby about music and didn't want to even stay and listen to them (after some local band we liked opened) because they were on mainstream radio stations. That really pissed me off.

Well, that's presumptuous. Aside from smoking weed, I don't think Alan is a drug guy.

He had to mention minimalism. I knew Floyd, especially Waters Floyd, had to be a big influence. I love his less-is-more approach.
