I'm sure a few of you have been running them for ages, but for me, this is a new concept...and I love the quality of some of the builds I've seen so far.

Awesome build 🔥👍✌️
That is a great looking course. Those wheels are AWESOME! Looking forward to your build.
The LCG crawlers are really the interesting ones to me. I like the minimalist layout and the tech in them. And it's a great class for scratch builders. I like the home grown builds.
That's one of the best looking/most capable crawler I've seen I want mine to end up something like that you got some great footage of it there bud

Yeah they look great, but i personally dont see the point of carbon Wheels, if you add brass weights later.. Just my opinion.🤷
@TomleyRC
2 жыл бұрын
I think with so many other options for getting weight low down… you can be more ‘personal’ with wheel choices. There may also be some science behind a lighter wheel?? Less force needed to turn? I dunno 😅
@garethcurtis9665
2 жыл бұрын
Iight wheels allow you to better control tyre deformation and tuning, they give you more punch needed for such low gearing. You add non rotational unsprung weight to axles instead.

Invert your shocks, so your weight is on the axle. Servo on axle. Loose your frame rail ends to give more room to move, and, less upper weight. Been doing ultra light Low CG for a while. Most capable

I just ordered a g-speed chassis to build my third LCG crawler. I don't do competitions but watching and reading about competitions everyone has an LCG rig in the class 2. They are just so capable that it's one of those situations that if you can't beat them join them type of thing. I absolutely love how capable they are.
Your right some of us have been running them for decades but the tech is so much better these days.
Yeah LCG crawlers are legit! You should convert your Capra to LCG it'll do anything. That build it's crazy he knowns what he's doing. Thanks for the vid.

I love the look of the LCG/ Bellydragger trucks. Not sure I have the skills to build one, so I'm going to watch your build with interest. Great shots of that truck in the video. 👍🏻
awesome rc and cool crawling
Really awesome looking truck, Tomley! Really nice! 😃 You know, I started my rc history, let's say, watching people making their own stuff. With foam board or whatever they had on hand... Then I went to quadcopters... Where you can buy a ready to fly, but you can also build one yourself (and there's the most fun part for me!). So, with quadcopters you first chose the size. A 5" quad, for example. And there are hundreds of frames to choose from, a few motor sizes, but hundreds of brands (each with their own color and so on)... So, anyway, that's something I really miss in the rc cars world. It's a real shame. But that's why I liked the WPL stuff so much. Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

Great crawlers😎
very noice wheels! :-D
back in 2005 2007 era people were doing shockless lcg crawlers, the two main shafty styles were a piano wire chassis and a l channel aluminum chassis. both used torsion instead of shocks. and for moa axles they had a stick chassis which used on shock per axle. they were pretty crazy setups. they would probably still do pretty good especially with portal axles.
We have a huge crawling scene here with some of the best terrain. If you wanna keep up with your buddies you gotta have an lcg rig.

I've been crawlin since it was a new thing, moa Tamiya axles on home made links supporting just enough rail to hold a shock tower. Extreme light weight low CG was the rule. That was way before any RTR stuff. Oh well, in this world of instant garbage it's hard for some to think they aren't the first.
I favour the low CG chassis crawler more because they are more stable on banked or steep surfaces. They won't fall off easily when crawling sideways

What you're seeing is the part that spins, you can see that in the rear view when it's crawling. It's called an outrunner, the other (regular) type is an inrunner. They're used a lot in model aircraft. The thin-ish outer casing carries the magnets and drives the pinion or propeller, while the part with the armature with connections is bolted to the frame.
