I went over budget too so you are not alone on this journey and it’s harder on a low income especially being disabled but it happens..On the flip side I make it a point to save $40 a month out my income and I don’t touch it.. homelessness is a fear of mine because my mom became homeless.. thank god i had shelter to take her in she slept on my sofa 3,years but she had a roof over her head..,after getting her in senior housing she passed away16 months later at $62… you here many on fixed incomes say they can’t save .. I save my coins from grocery money and this money goes in a high yield acct.. like you said it takes discipline.. I have over $800 saved.. and we all need a buffer doesn’t matter if it’s $50 we need it until that next pay period…. .. we think we can’t basically because we dont want to.. sometimes we need to just do the bare minimum to survive until we can build.. I learned this through my mothers situation.. it was a wake up call..( please forgive the typos) but you get the point.. it’s like 1am my time)

I wish i could have fun cash stuffing more frequently! I get paid twice monthly: mid month and end of month. Mid month goes towards topping up expenses, sinking funds, and a few bills. The end of month goes towards rent and most of my bills. It means I only get to budget once a month, but i love seeing videos like yours reconciling on a weekly basis. Also, love the conversation on motivation vs discipline! Such an important concept to differentiate. Thank you for sharing your story. ❤

I truly appreciate you for being so transparent and willing to share your journey. And trust me we are grateful for you and all you do. This truly helps and allows us all to understand we are not alone. I’m educator as well. I sacrifice a lot to help children and I’m grateful for that opportunity to touch lives. Education is truly not a money maker occupation but we get internal rewards seeing children succeed. Keep striving and know you will be debt free and able to do so much. I can relate to what you were saying about being frivolous with money and making to the next check, because I made those mistakes and being completely broke or homeless will humble you. We all have weeks like that with money. I had that happen in the middle of March and trying to figure out where we were financially and sweek it all from our spending took me so, so long! I really hated it but it was what it was. Give yourself grace and keep trying.💐

I’ve had an okay month. My co worker needed a ride twice and we both got food so I went over my eating out budget, and because I live twenty minutes from work I’ve been driving a LOT. I have not spent any of my personal or shopping envelopes so that’s the good part since those are my weakest points!

I got nothing, girl. I overspent at costco last night because I needed things--they were legitimate purchases. Everything has gone up so even simple things are more expensive. It is absolutely harder to make a dollar last further now. And then add on "self care" just like getting a mani or pedi--that's my whole grocery budget for a week! I've had to cut way back. Living with contentment has become a daily affirmation. You'll do better next month or the month after. It's all good! You are still trying and are you so organized--don't give up! You can do it!

Don't hit yourself too hard. We all start over. You can always watch your previous stuffings to get your past balances to reconcile your monthly amounts. When you corrected Emergency you didn't change the tracker title.

Try starting with creating a simple budget, and only using cash for variable expenses (gas, groceries, etc). Getting a month ahead is tough!
