Hypoglycemia is not a disease in itself- it is the result of an underlying issue or combination of them.
Thus, A person with systematically low levels of blood glucose (sugar) has hypoglycemia
Hypoglycemia is a condition caused by a very low level of blood sugar (glucose), our body's main energy source.
Hypoglycemia is often related to the treatment of diabetes.

WHAT IS BLOOD SUGAR?
The blood sugar level, blood sugar concentration, or blood glucose level is the concentration of glucose present in the blood of humans and other animals.
Glucose is a simple sugar and approximately 4 grams of glucose are present in the blood of a 70-kilogram human at all times.
WHAT IS HYPOGLYCEMIA
When the blood sugar level drops below 54mg / dL, such a condition is called hypoglycemia or low blood sugar.
Our body's normal blood sugar level is between 80-110 mg / dL and 90 mg / dL is considered the average blood sugar level.
Hypoglycemia is a problem due to which the patient experiences dizziness, nervousness and sweating.
CAUSES OF HYPOGLYCEMIA
It most commonly happens when a person with diabetes has taken too much insulin.
Over dose of oral hypoglycemic drugs like metformin, Glipizide, Glimepiride
Exercise without proper food intake & Skipping meals
CAUSES OF HYPOGLYCEMIA
Lack of glucagon (hormone that is secreted from the pancreas that raises blood glucose levels)
Excessive alcohol consumption: drinking heavily can block liver from releasing stored glucose
Tumor of pancreas known as an Insulinoma
SEVERE SYMPTOMS OF HYPOGLYCEMIA
Concentration problems
Confusion
Irrational and disorderly behavior (similar to somebody who is drunk)
Seizures (uncommon)
Loss of consciousness (uncommon)

MANAGEMENT OF HYPOGLYCEMIA
Check blood sugar often, if below 70mg/dl (milligrams per deciliter) stabilize it by eating.
FULL CONSCIOUS PATIENT
Oral glucose , sucrose or any sugar containing fluid.
Give glucose to patient externally
TREATMENT OF HYPOGLYCEMIA
IV 50% dextrose 25 - 50 ml or as much as possible until patient mental state recover.
50% Dextrose Injection, USP is a sterile, nonpyrogenic, hypertonic solution of dextrose in water for injection for intravenous injection as a fluid and nutrient replenisher.
Each mL of fluid contains 0.5 g dextrose, hydrous which delivers 3.4 kcal/gram.
TREATMENT OF HYPOGLYCEMIA
If hypoglycemia is caused by long acting insulin continue 10% dextrose drip for 24 hr. - 48 hr.
Short-term treatment of hypoglycemia consists of an intravenous (IV) bolus of dextrose 10% 2.5 mL/kg.
The critical sample should be drawn before the glucose is administered
TREATMENT OF HYPOGLYCEMIA
Glucagon 1 mg IM , SC can be given to treat severe hypoglycemia if IV accesses difficult.
Glucagon inhibits the tone and motility of the smooth muscle in the gastrointestinal tract.
When used in treatment of severe hypoglycaemia, an effect on blood glucose is usually seen within 10 minutes.
The onset of inhibitory effect on gastrointestinal motility occurs within 1 minute after an intravenous injection.
PREVENTION OF HYPOGLYCEMIA
Hypoglycemia is a condition characterized by abnormally low level of blood sugar.
More serious to be treated fast.
Continues monitoring of the hypoglycemia patient.
Diabetic patient should informed to take food in the time
Checking blood glucose levels
keep a regular check on blood sugar levels and identify onset of symptoms
Eat regularly
keep to your eating routine.
Exercise - make sure you have eaten some carbohydrate-rich food before you do any exercise.
