Low air flow through truck air vents. Cleaning evap coil! 2005 LLY Duramax (no cabin filter)

Ойын-сауық

Some 2500 model Chevy and gmc trucks did no come equipped with a cabin filter. Instead of changing a clogged filter… you guessed it! This video shows you how to properly clean your trucks a-coil. This doubled my air flow!

Perfect video!! Mine had a horrible rat smell! Turns out they nested up under the windshield air intake. Had to remove the plastic grille and got a water hose in there to get everything out of there. A little water made it in the cab, luckily rubber floor mats caught the piss water. I soaked the evap coil and intake ducts with green clean and will get after it tomorrow again. That’s what happens when you let your truck sit I guess!!

My 08 2500 HD didn't have a filter from the factory and it spent its entire life on a construction crew . when I opened it up the evaporator was chuck full of dirt I mean clogged solid I had to clean it 3 x with garden hose to finally get it to work. I installed a filter when I was done thanks for the tip Brother... 😀

Good deal, mine was clogged pretty good! How did you go about putting a filter in?

Wow! Thanks for this video-what you have seems to be closer to what I’m seeing on my 09 GMC Sierra 3500 HD with the LMM duramax. A/c airflow is anemic so had been suspecting a clogged cabin air filter (nonexistent) or a clogged evap coil. The ductwork on this truck seems to be configured differently with no obvious place to do the retrofit cabin air filter installation. Now I have a possible solution! Thanks again!

Most helpful how to video I’ve found on the subject so far. Everyone else was cutting their box and putting it back with epoxy. Not my style.

Just used the gm part where you cut the bottom where the filter would be, and then you use the factory door to close the hole you cut. Makes cleaning really nice and looks factory since it basically is factory for models that have the cabin air filter.

Have you had success doing this? It would be hard to seal up with it being and “add on” I would imagine. I did give it a thought but figured this was the best/ cleanest route.

mine smells awful from living in the desert for years. all the dust has just built up and there's no way to reach the Evap to clean it.

I have a 05 2500. I've used my truck since nice for heavy construction plus I transport 4 golden retrievers that shed 2 times a year....the first 6 months and the last 6 months 😂😂😂 thanks for this tip boss. I'm scared to see what mine looks like.

I would be scared too 😅 I don’t think it can be any worse than mine. It appeared the previous owner of mine only took gravel roads and had the windows down 24/7. Best of luck, anytime!

I'm so cheap I've completely cut holes on both sides. I can hit the AC as well as the heater As well as in between😂.. But this method definitely does help a lot Silicone chunks of mud flap or plastic into the holes you cut for next time Because your air conditioning and humidity and all of those fancy things. Moisture plus dirt/dust equals mud. You can usually get a shop back up in there and vacuum most of it out before you put it through the box

Thats one way of doing it!😝 I try to do the easiest fastest method. I personally didn’t want to patch holes.
