That loving murders storyline was the most frightening story on a soap. From the colorblind view when she was about to kill, that clicking noise to the itsy bitsy spider theme. I didn’t look at that song the same after that. One of the best serial killers on a soap hands down!

This was fabulous fun. Loving was the first soap opera I saw from the beginning. I thought it was a big deal. I remember Jack & Lilly's story. I was confused how it was all suddenly dropped. I remember being shocked Susan Walters left. (She should have received a big raise.) I want to apologize for the misogyny these wonderful actresses endured behind the scenes. The fact that you were able to go on and act is a testament of your strength. Misogyny is the child of weakness. Unfortunately, Loving was dropped in my area. Without warning, one Monday it was gone. I kept up through news papers and tabloids (don't judge). When Loving was going to morph into The City, the show began airing again. It had changed a lot, but I was able to pick up watching again. I truly appreciate the gift of good soap opera. I got hooked on them as a kid. My mom watched General Hospital and One Life to Live. She said they were stories that didn't end. (It was true back then.) May you all feel the appreciation and adoration from the fans. Plus, you all look fabulous!

This reunion was far beyond amazing. In Italy we are still so fond of the show. Here it reached 5 millions viewers per episode in the late '80s and in the '90s. I remember Noelle and John coming to Italy as a show guests and so did Susan Keith, Perry Stephens and Ron Nummi. I'm re-watching "Loving" (aka "Quando si Ama") since the beginning thanks to an italian channel and I can't describe the emotions resurfacing from my youth in the '80s. Thanks for sharing!

OMG CHRIS> WOOHOO> Just catching this now. Loved Loving. Got auotgraph pics from both Susan Keith and Husband James Kiberd, Met and autograph of James Horan who taught a soapoepora acting class in Philadelphia back in the day. So for me really cool You started the Loving reunion. Still remember putting my TV on and cathing the 2hour primetime tv movie LOVING that became the soap opera the very next day. I was a freshman in high school.

Jennifer Ashe, as Lily Slater, compelling as the “All-American” girl on the outside, but inside a victim of gross injustice suffered at the hands of her father. I felt her Lily was a character ahead of the times, thanks to the skill of the late Agnes Nixon and Douglas Marland, respectively… Noelle Beck, as Trisha Alden McKenzie, a sport. I think like within the first two years of her character being introduced Noelle had to experience more than any young actress would even attempt to act in a lifetime. Pam Bowen, as Colby Cantrell, I believe the niece of Loving premiere characters Billy and Rita Mae Bristow? I feel had the character been given longevity on the canvas she would have been a serious contender against super-vixens Lorna and Ava!Both Betsy Burr and Marilyn McIntyre, great as Noreen Donovan, another breakthrough character by Nixon/Marland. A sublime act of humanitarianism in playing a role that involved the AIDS crisis at a time when people feared not just the disease, but those suffering. Patty Lotz essential as Ava Rescott, Marland’s blue collar princess who wanted a white collar/white knight. We remember the late Roya Megnot’s glamorous take, but without Ms. Lotz’s organic version I don’t think we would have found the happy balance in Lisa Peluso. (PS I love GLOW, I keep connected to "Roxy" and "Godiva") Lauren Marie Taylor, courageous grace. When they killed Stacey Donovan Forbes off I was like, “No, you just cannot do this! This is heresy!” Would you kill Erika Slezak off?! Would you kill Julia Barr off?! I mean, to this day! She was such a trooper until the end of the story. Ms. Christine Tudor…oh I still don’t want to accept Gwyneth Alden had anything to do with killing off her beloved Alden family, but really, if any character could do it and make it come off as pure art form it would be the talented Ms. Tudor. Epic acting…and in shoulder pads. ♥ Susan Walters, like caviar, undeniably savory as poor little rich girl Lorna Forbes, a character yet to be told from a more youthful point of view…and how badly did Lorna treat her mother…Ann Alden Forbes as played by Callan White. As sophisticated as Shannon Eubanks was, there was no way she could have ever punched Gwyneth Alden out like Callan did… And I think both Callan White and Susan Walters should return as Ann and Lorna to reclaim the Alden/Forbes prominence if they ever reincarnate LOVING, possibly as a web serial??? And Christopher Marcantel…for me, you were “the” ultimate Curtis Alden. I think it was those devil-may-care eyebrows and that smirk. No offense to Linden, who would be my close second. Thank you Peggy Ellis and Showrunner Productions… Thank you Tricia Shatney for keeping the fandom alive, or we couldn't have a treat like this care of Peggy and Chris!

I can't believe Noelle Beck is a grandma! Someone is currently posting some episodes of Loving from the year 1991, and Noelle Beck is very pregnant in these episodes (they wrote her real life pregnancy into the script) . . . anyway, as I was watching it, I couldn't help but think that the baby she was carrying would be 30 years old now. That freakin' blew my mind! So it's not too strange that she would be a grandma. I will say that she was young when she had her baby . . . Noelle Beck was about 24 when she had her baby . . . but still, it really blows my mind.

One of the best of these virtual reunions. Loving was so underrated, never really given a chance to succeed, but had such great actors and potential. To see and hear these classy and beautiful ladies sharing their stories and backstage detail makes me love them all even more. I watched the show during its run and always was rooting for it to garner the attention and ratings it deserved, but too much shuffling of the writing and production staff, as well as constant cast turnover, led to inconsistencies and audience unrest. If ABC would have kept the original concept intact with Douglass Marland writing, as well as a better timeslot than the late morning one in which the show was launched, I believe things would have turned out better.

Hi Sedrick...Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words. We have two more scheduled...time and date to be announced. First is what I call the "Core Four". The original kids ...Jennifer...Lauren...Susan and me (Christopher Marcantel). Aftet that...Randy Mantooth and friends. I totally agree about how the show went wrong. In the beginning it was about a college town. Also the rich and miserable Aldens and the poor but happy Donovans. When I came back for the last 2 years...I didn't think it was about anything...just copying storylines from other soaps. Too bad. Thanks again. See you at the next one.

That's why I find the original cast and their first year (or two, around the time Marland left) to be so fascinating - because "Loving" from story genesis was attempting subject matter none of the other soaps (especially those created out of social relevancy) would try to tell - stories like Mike's PTSD, the Slater family incest and the work Noreen did with AIDS patients, not to mention representations in characters (as per "Soap World" by LaGuardia): of progressive priests, found in Father Jim Vochek or the challenge to conservative beliefs in Merrill Vochek's journalism. As a viewer, it seemed executives wanted to retool "Loving" into a 30 minute version of their already established daytime/nighttime shows, hence the Aldens becoming the core surname like "Carrington", as well as town conglomerate, with one Rescott "interloper" marrying all the men of the wealthy family like "Guiding Light"'s Reva Shayne. The more allocated approach with it being about several families, several social backgrounds, and socially relevant topics, was much more enjoyable.

@@erikandrus4387, I've always wondered why Douglass Marland's name not credited with being co-creator of the show. I think his thoughts and visions, which served as the driving force of the original incarnation, are what set it apart from the other daytime soaps at the time, refreshingly domestic and realistic. Once he left, "Loving" never truly had an identity of its own.

@@sedrickgilbert7682 Hi there :) There is an episode from 1984 that is on KZread, and Mr. Marland is credited as co-creator in the closing credits, as well as head writer.
