Lovina Bali - empty tourist resorts

Lovina Beach in Indonesia, known for its serene ambiance and appeal to solo travelers, reveals a dual character. Despite its reputation, parts of the beach are commercialized, featuring loud tourist music and souvenir shops. Notably, there is a stark absence of tourists. This video explores potential reasons, including Indonesia's 2022 law banning sex outside marriage and its impact on tourism. Walk through both the bustling and tranquil sides of Lovina Beach, uncovering the reality behind its current state.

You are welcome. Yes, Lovina is a beautiful place. I personally like that it is still quite natural, laid back and I would not like to have "more tourist attraction malls" or an airport there.

Lovina has very beautiful places but is always calmer than the south of Bali, where most tourists go. In Lovina there are no large star hotels and as a tourist it is also difficult to find a taxi. You don't have a Bluebird taxi there, so you can't just go from point A to point B, you have to find a local driver who is willing to take you there, and agree in advance when and also when you want to return. There are no large shopping malls or few nice shops. Lovina is also a long drive through the mountains if you are in the south of Bali. If they ever had to build a major highway, this might be better, people have been talking about it for decades!

It is true, Lovina has beautiful places. I also haven’t seen any big shopping malls or hotel chains like Hilton, Radisson, Mariott etc. but there are big hotel complexes with up to 300 beds. I found a lot of local drivers at lovina beach willing to drive you probably at a slightly higher price, but there is always also the possiblity to use the App Gojek, what worked very well in my case. When we drove from Tabanan to Buleleng the driver told me that chinese construction companies have built this straight solid road recently and that before there was a very small curvy road, whose remnants could still be seen….
