The Colour out of Space was the first of Mr. Lovecraft's stories that I read when I was in grade 7. I have been a fan ever since. I wish someone would make more movies from his novels.

Our distributor is seeking someone to handle the DVD in other regions. In the meantime, I'm told the Blu-Ray is Region 0 and someone wrote from Ireland to say it worked for them.

@MortosSoulStealer Regrettably it is only available in the American region (Region 1) on DVD. We're pressing our distributor to address this issue especially since there are so many people like yourself who live in Europe and want to see the documentary. That said... I know the Blu-Ray version is Region 0 (all regions) and people have been able to play the Blu-Ray in Ireland and England. Our distrib is also working on making the film avail for download. We'll keep you posted on that.

He was never cruel to anyone personally. Granted, he was a bitter and lonesome elitist with pro-segregation views, but he showed generosity and kindness to those who sought his friendship and guidance. He befriended some admirers so thoroughly that they worked their entire lives following his untimely death to promote his life's work. Mr. Lovecraft was a flawed person, but he was NOT a terrible one.

@KajiCarson I agree with you, he was a racist and a anti-semite but when WWII came around he felt sympathetic to those who were suffering

Have you tried the superb books by Robert M Price: 'The new lovecraft circle' & Ramsay Campbell, "Tales of the lovecraft mythos" & "Ashes & others H.P. lovecraft & divers hands". Another excellent book by R. M. Price is, ' The reason driven life '

Floorsnarl - Here's the latest we heard. The Blu-Rays have all been shipped to their respective outlets. Now they have to send it to you. Given how long it's been, I'm assuming you bought the Blu-Ray. Is that right?

@KajiCarson: Essentially, you are in the right. I would argue, however, that he could, on occasion, be jaw-droppingly offensive in his statements (see, for instance, LETTERS TO RHEINHART KLEINER or LETTERS FROM NEW YORK); at the same time, he would almost certainly show kindness, on a personal level, to the very ethnics he so despised in general. As for his being bitter and lonely -- the latter, perhaps. The former... that I rather doubt. Flawed, yes, but overall a genuinely good human being.

The montage of Providence is beautiful! But Del Toro comes across a bit vulgar. "Getting laid" is getting a bit overrated nowadays. Lovecraft was an artist committed to his art. That´s why he´s still relevant today. For all fans of Lovecraft, I recommend the award winning film "shadow of the Unnamable". It´s probably the most faithful Lovecraft adaptation so far & it´s in colour! You can watch the latest trailer on youtube and visit the website for the synopsis and info.

@androzani7 Lovecraft wasn't a "racist" in the general sense of the word. He was a frightful intellectual snob and most of the minorities he encountered in his insular, old-money upbringing were uneducated servants and laborers. Is it any wonder he considered them to be his inferiors? Yet he had no trouble defying his family and marrying a Jewish woman because he had great respect and admiration for her intellect.

There is either 2 people who do not like h.p Lovecraft, they probably have absolutely no imagination and cant open there mind to new things. Or there probably extremely stupid people who are expecting some gratuitous bloody cheap grade b horror story.
