Band co-founder , Miho , is on bass here. She left in 2021. Fami is the new bassist, joining Oct 2022. Princesses fit, heavy metal princesses. Some songs , like this one, lean towards power metal. Others, like Thunder vengeance and break the Wall, lean towards thrash. You'll hear influences in their music, like Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Helloween. 4 albums and 60+ songs. I am also wondering, since Miyako is such a huge Star Wars fan, if some of the inspiration came from the Mortis episodes of Clone Wars and the character of The Daughter who represented the light side of the Force and wore light clothing with gold. The character of The Son represented the dark side and he looked very much like he was part of a black clad metal band. Lovebites seems to make a point of representing the light side of metal music.

First time reactions to Lovebites are the best. Your reaction was exactly how I felt when I first saw them. The ladies of Lovebites are freaking phenomenal. Totally mind-blowing in talent and performance. The best band in their genre in my opinion. In the past year they had to replace their bass player (The one in this video, Miho, left in August 2021). Fami (rhymes with Mommy) won the audition in October 2022, she is phenomenal too, and is only 21 years old - the others are in their early 30s. Lovebites released three new live videos from their concerts this year and they feature their amazing new bass player. Yes, Lovebites lyrics are 90% all about positivity, hope, and encouragement. All their songs are in 100% English. Next song by them to react to, "Edge of the World" live in 2020. It shows another side to them and has another amazing message of hope in the lyrics.

Lovebites lyrics are almost universally positive, especially those written by Asami. Lovebites draw you in and in short order you become their willing prisoner. 60 songs, no one better or worse than this one. All at this level, yet only a tiny handful are in any way similar to any other. They’re quite simply the best band there has ever been. I’m in my 60’s, so I’ve earned the right to say that. Now I sit and wait for people ten years my senior to come and agree with me, because they usually do! 😂

Welcome to the greatest metal band in the world! As far as I am concerned, it does not get any better than Lovebites. Their talent level is insane. You shoulod react to anything they do live. It's all amazing. They made Lovebites to show that metal can be positive and not all black clothes and they leaned into that and this is what you get! They don't just do power metal. When they bring the thrash, there is no one better. They also do progressive metal and I'm sure you saw the grand piano on stage, so get ready for a surprise from that. They're amazing. What more can be said? If you want thrash, try Break the Wall, live from 2020, or Thunder Vengeance (same show, this one - Thunder Vengeance is the opener). Judgment Day, with their new bassist, is amazing live. That's on their official channel, from a show this past March. That's not even getting into their masterpieces with piano, although I love it all.

Welcome to the Wolfpack! (the name for us Lovebites fans :D) - Glad to see you fully enjoying the best metal band on the planet. It's great to see more people discovering our ladies! I encourage you to check out some of their live performances too - in my decades of metal fandom, I've never heard cleaner sound out of a band live. Also, they while they usually wear the white gowns that are their usual "Battle Uniforms", one of their newest songs "Stand and Deliver" is one of the few MVs they have done in casual clothes. Some data on the band: The lead singer (Asami) is the group goofball, and is known as "The One and Only Voice" - and metal is a new genre for her vocally. She does a lot of writing, also. Haruna is the drummer - called "The Little BIG Engine" - because she just crushes the drum parts and rhythm section on every song, and she is completely indefatiguable! Miyako is our right side guitarist who also does all the background synth and piano work. In addition, she also writes and does everything with that calm, cool professionalism. :) She is called "The Golden Touch" for a reason - everything she touches turns gold. Midori is the blonde guitarist with the amazing hair on the left side, and she is "The Crazy Shredder" - because, well, it is what it says. She's insanely good and aggressive shredder. She also performs in bodybuilding competitions. :) On bass you have Miho - one of the founders of the band (she formed the band with Haruna) - a really good bassist who stepped down from her role just a couple years ago - if you check out their latest album, you will meet their current bass player, the amazingly talented Fami - who doesn't have a nickname yet - but she really has injected even more energy and passion into the group. Fun fact: Fami is the tallest member of the band, at 5'2" tall. :) Recommended further listening: Music Videos: Stand and Deliver (Shoot 'em Down) - latest video, and definitely more thrash. There are a lot of very good bands around today, but in terms of pure technical musicianship, LOVEBITES is one of the best two or three bands on the planet. Notice the grand piano on stage! As well as being elite musicians, almost all of their songs have very positive lyrics. It's a crime against humanity that this band isn't better known. They are almost single-handedly keeping the NWOBHM sound alive. If LOVEBITES were around in the late 1980s, they would have been one of the biggest bands in existence. Most of their catalogue fits into the Speed/Power Metal sub-genre, but they also have a number of Thrash songs which are (in my opinion), as good and probably better than anything produced by Slayer, Anthrax or Testament. Here is a recent live performance of a thrashier song from their post-COVID comeback tour with their new bassist. if you like to hear bands live first to get a feel of what they are capable of - then you have found one of THE best bands to ever take the stage together. in the old days - yeah i'm old - the term supergroup got thrown around now and then with a few groups that had major players from other successful bands. well LOVEBITES is just that - these are veterans of all female metal bands that have since disbanded other than vocalist asami who was a r+b and soul music backup singer for a couple of bands. they liked her operatic voice and it translates so well to the music they play. this band is absolute fire with every song - numbering over 60 - all self written. you will be blown away every time. 7 years in and there is no stopping them

Fun fact. After she got started with Lovebites and discovered she had a natural talent for 'belting', Asami was thinking - she liked opera, so why not try to add operatic elements to her singing? So she just did it , with *_no training_* . Just a natural born Talent to SING. The beauty is just a bonus.

Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing. In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." I won't brag about how great Lovebites is. Their music does all the bragging they need. I will say welcome to the world of Lovebites. Be prepared to go down a rabbit hole you will not want to come out of. I have been listening faithfully for over three years and they still have a grip on me that won't let go. They are, in my opinion, they gold standard of metal music today. Enjoy the ride!!

Hi Bruce - Good News! You've been Lovebitten. Lovebites was Formed in 2016 by bassist *Miho* and drummer *Haruna* . They added *Midori* (blond guitar) and *Miyako* (black hair guitar/piano/composer/backup vocals) who they knew from playing clubs. They added vocalist *Asami* (she had an R&B background) after her audition. Fami 5' 3", Miyako almost that, 5' 2.5", Haruna 4' 9". In cm: Haruna 145, Asami 147, Midori 150, Miho uncertain (a little more), Miyako 159.5, Fami 1.60 (also the youngest /w 21years).

@@Patrick_H. Hmm, I've seen a lot of photos, that justify that 1 inch difference! While heels are a problem... Are you suggesting 4' 8" ? Edit: yes. I don't know, why I oversaw the 4'8 in the original posting, was blindeyed... Summary: She's the smallest with a big drum set!

One of the best bands out there right now. For older material, listen to Swan Song (with the Chopin intro), Set the World on Fire, and Thunder Vengeance. Watch the live versions of all of them. More recently released, you need to hear Hammer of Wrath [Official Live Video taken from "Knockin' At Heaven's Gate"] and Judgement Day live. And lastly, one that isn't live but truly blows my mind... Dissonance, a pure shredfest.

If someone comments here like "you've ain't seen nothing yet", that's because "Holy War", although quite good and a perfect introduction to LOVEBITES, is just an average song within their (self-written) discography. You'll have a lot of fun examining ANY of their 60+ songs written since 2017. Or the covers. Or the piano work. It's a big rabbit hole, but they never disappoint!

LOVEBITES was formed in 2016 by Miho(Ba) and Haruna(Dr), members of the band "DESTROSE", which went on hiatus in 2015. The girls made their major label debut in 2017 (March 24) with "THE LOVEBITES EP". On 18 June 2018, LOVEBITES won 'BEST NEW BAND' at the Metal Hummer Golden Gods 2018 awards organised by the British metal magazine METAL HUMMER. On 4 August, LOVEBITES performed on the W.E.T stage at WACKEN OPEN AIR 2018, one of the world's largest annual metal festivals in Germany, with the 10,000 capacity venue almost full. "Bloodstack open air 2018(Aug. 10)" also participated. On August 20,2018, LOVEBITES announced that it has partnered with X-ray Touring, one of the largest players in the UK booking agent industry. If a reactor posts a LOVEBITES reaction video, I will try to do it during the First Reaction as much as possible. In some cases, it may not be so. Some reactors are interested in a variety of information, but to each his own. The origins of the band, instruments, lyrics, stories behind the songs and members, magazine interview descriptions, etc. Not all subscribers to the Reactor channel are duplicates of subscribers to other Reactor channels, and we want first-time viewers who are not duplicates to know the history and basic information about LOVEBITES. Even if it is only one person's first viewing of that content, I would like to transmit it to that person. This is just one of my own little ways to support LOVEBITES.

@@TheMindofBruce Those are all awesome recommendations for both lyrics and fantastic music by Lovebites. You can't go wrong with any of those. It is also their "lighter" and "softer" music. Most of their songs are heavier than those tracks.

Greetings Bruce, from what I've heard you say I think LOVEBITES lyrics will consistently be a welcome aspect of their music. Every one of LOVEBITES 60 original songs are more than 'worthy' but few 'reactors' venture beyond one-song-at-a-time. Seeing you do not shy-away from 20min reactions, from 2021 show, Heavy Metal Never Dies, after playing 12 songs over 80min they give us these 3 with no breaks, "The Apocalypse > M.D.O. > Don't Bite The Dust" : kzread.info/dash/bejne/pqh2rpKKZ5eaqKQ.html Subjects: being atomic-bombed > cautionary wisdom > self-empowerment, determination, positivity! @@TheMindofBruce On September 9, 2023, LOVEBITES give a concert in Sapporo, and the very next day (September 10) Midori (blonde, guitar) will perform in the Body Fitness category at the ALL JAPAN competition, which is held by the JBBF ( Japan Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation ). On August 6, 2023, Midori also reached the final (placed 4th) at the 34th JAPAN OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS. The first 6 places are finalists. Currently (August-October 2023) LOVEBITES is conducting a concert Tour in various cities in Japan. And so Midori has to combine hard daily training with rehearsals and concerts of LOVEBITES, follow a diet (low-calorie) and a certain drinking regime in order for the muscles to be more prominent. It is very difficult psychologically and physically. Midori has enormous willpower!!!

Due to them being petite ladies, they choose to wear white because metal stages are usually quite dark. White reflects light so they stand out against the dark stage. Petite, Asami, vocals is 4'10"!!

Lovebites, Nemophila and Hanabie. My 3 favourite Japanese all lady metal bands that are all world class. Japan is bringing metal back. 🤘😍🤘🇯🇵 Try Nemophila live with OIRAN 2023 or REVIVE 2023. HANABIE have just sold out tours in Europe and are now in the US. Lovebites have some new live performances on their channel as well that are awesome.

What the Lovebits are fighting against is the stereotype of metal. Even in the Japanese metal scene, wearing a white stage costume, which was considered taboo, could alienate one from one's surroundings. Nevertheless, Lovebits chose to wear white feminine stage costumes and made the wolf the band's symbol, saying, "We will do what we want to do even if we have to be lone wolves. And those bitten by the Lovebits would come to call themselves the Wolf Pack. Not that it matters, but vocalist Asami got a nosebleed during the first recording, and for a while the members called the song "Nosebleed War.
