This song makes my guts twist. I see this scene and realize that we are along of a journey with two creatures that are the last of their kind and were always alone, in the sense that they weren't like others. And then there's the prequel that makes the feeling even worse, because all of those beloved characters are dead, but at least paved the road so that Jen and Kira could finally defeat the skesis. Things get better eventually, but we don't always live to see it, and may even not live long enough to give all the support needed to those who will actually live to see the end.

Skarith (according netflix series) is a rather small area! I think Thra the planet is much much bigger than that...so I guess it´s even quite likele that somwhere else far far from Skeksis several more Gelflings could survive....

I'd forgotten just how melancholy this theme was, but it makes sense in the context of the story. It's essentially a post-apocalyptic story and the leads are the last of their race in what seems at times to be a hopeless endeavor.

Like a lost wondering heart that discovered a love it never thought possible but at same time it looked back to all those years never knowing till now how much it was in agony it was and yearning for this. A whirlpool of a dormant pain reopened to be cleansed and finally healed by beauty and grace.

@@dejavega2137 "Revive" used in the context of a high fantasy story is a very vague word to explain how a species was brought back from the brink of extinction. Storytellers like to use vaguely worded explanations so that the audience can come up with their own interpretations of what happened to characters.

I love how both romantic and sad this gorgeous music is. Romantic because obviously Jen and Kira fall in love and complete each other so much after so many years of thinking they would never meet someone to relate to, to be like them and to do something as intimate as dreamfasting together and thus be fully understood for the first time in their lives. Sad because until meeting they both thought they would be forever alone and the last of their species and even after finding each other they know they wouldn't be able to repopulate their people by themselves so if they ever have a child they would doom them to be the one real last Gelfling and be unable to do anything about it. Melancholic, tragic and beautiful

End. Begin. Jen and Kira are standing in between those two words. One foot in the end of the Gelfling civilization they were born to but will never know, and one foot in the beginning to a new world they will shape in their image, without anyone to guide them. An Eden that exists with new possibilities because old possibilities were destroyed.

Nothing saying that our elven like ancestors weren't beautiful and divine. There are plenty of wildlife creatures that are majestic and inspiring, lions, eagles, sharks, etc. Reality will never live up to the big screen, but they certainly could have possessed visually striking characteristics far surpassing our own, e.g. greater body/facial symmetry, greater hair sheen, higher leg/body ratio, etc..

@botchalism I meant that it was hard to invalidate peoples word back in the ancient time since there was virtually no science fact and people often looked to others for explanations for the unknown and or tales of interest that they often used to give reason to their lives. Such as Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel which were stories 'written' by the Brothers Grimm for the purpose of entertaining children and also conveying a message to stay out of the woods/unknown.

@botchalism Oral word of old I'm afraid was a lot harder to invalidate at the time since often the witnesses of aid mythical creatures were usually alone or expressing a need to impose an ideal on their common man. Most stories and pretty much all those worth remembering were constructed for the purpose of teaching a lesson or common knowledge. Fairy tales such as Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel were for example tales told to children so they wouldn't go into the forest.

The sad thing is, it sounds like the theme you'd hear where the main character's love interest dies in his arms... Guess it understates just how the Gelflings were screwed over by the Skeksis in general, and how Jen and Kira could truly be the last of their kind. Is it too much to hope that maybe there were a few more Gelfling survivors of the Garthim War than just our two heroes?
