As I understand it, he had THE pilot's license. As in, Bob was the holder of the very first US civilian pilot trainer's license. He was taught to fly by a somewhat notable figure, a friend of his grandfather's - Orville Wright! In fact, Bob's full name was Charles Clarence Robert ORVILLE Cummings.

I don't remember anyone who would walk into a kitchen and just eat someone's breakfast. The friends are ridiculous , obnoxious and quick to judge. I grew up in that time and knew how to respect adults. These boys were poor examples of what teenagers were like then.

Of course, Rod Amateau and Dwayne Hickman would touch base again later in 'Dobie Gillis'.

This one is actually from 1956, since it is directed by Rod Amateau, who had left the series by 1958 (Cummings directed all episodes from the final two seasons (1957-59)

I am doing an episode guide on my blog The Horn Section and have about 120 of the 173 episodes. Making imdb corrections on it when I can. :) This one is "The Fallen Idol", which originally aired March 8, 1956.

@@Halchorn I remember watching this show in syndication as a kid, but was not aware that Bob direct any of the episodes...he really was somewhat of a renaissance man.

Same here. I miss the one-time only DVDs that were featured in their flyers and emails, especially the channel-surfing DVDs of old shows with original commercials and network IDs, as originally broadcast. Very nostalgic! It's been about 5 years since they were discontinued. I wish they could bring them back.
