Sick footage, having skated LOVE in Philly since 1983, i can say if Philly had a park like this that Allowed skateboarding the Bars would have even been set higher than they were. Philly area skaters had to fight to skate everything and when something is built for skateboarding chances are it Sucks, FDR is good because its built by skaters and basically without intervention from the authority. Philly skaters thrive because they have to to stay alive and relevant. Bless UP this was AMAZING to watch, brought back memories of the 90s for sure.

Damn, that's amazing story. What was it like skating it in 1983, what kind of tricks were people doing back then because I guess that was before gonz and natas started bringing Ollie to street and grinding everything?

@@vancouverbill in the early days the ledges were not as used as the stairs and the slappy movement. At that time we had a route that we skated from Spikes Skates on Saturdays and sometimes the crew was big and sometimes it was few, but SPIKES Skates and the Baker Family brought Skateboarding to Philadelphia in my Experience. There was a sundial at Penns Landing that we skated like a bowl ditch. we had banks for bonelesses and all kinds of slides and even grabbing early airs out of curb cuts. The Ambler Toxic Crew would show up and bring all kinds of new ideas to the scene too. Jon Burke and Sean Miller and Barker Barrett did push this early.

I only know that Brian Panebianco took all the measurements before they tore down Love and those are what they used when they built this in Malmö.

I’m from Philly. I ride BMX. I love skateboarding it pisses me off that they didn’t do this in Philly. They shipped everything to Sweden like why didn’t they just put the stuff and make us skate park it doesn’t make sense. It’s a love park. Yeah it’s cool but it should’ve stayed in Philly.
