I grew up near family too as a West Indian family. It was so nice having family close by, birthday parties, bbqs etc. unfortunately, my parents only had 2 children and my sister wants no children. Cousins have moved all over the country. My husband’s sister has one child and doesn’t want anymore. So my 4 children only have 1 cousin and no one lives near each other and we are the only practicing Catholics. It feels like a small lonely island sometimes. I’m happy that families like these still exist! I hope my children grow up close and give each other what I had growing up, but what they unfortunately will not have.
