I'm 45 and I've only recently grasped the meaning of this statement emotionally: Love yourself first then you can love others. Loving yourself is the basis of everything. If you don't love yourself, you'll beat yourself up constantly over people that walk away from you, that ghost you or block you on social media, don't return your calls or messages. Since the moment I've understood that I am enough and other people's behaviour towards me have nothing to do with me but has everything to do with them (especially if I've tried my best to make things work), I can happily let them go and move on. This is so liberating.

I came here thinking the affirmations were for self-love but they are more so for attracting a soul-mate or partner. I was thankful to see your comment that does describe self-love. I do believe that many of us think these thoughts as you've shared and also feel them; but when personal struggles have gotten larger during a world crisis and so many friends/family appearing to be acting very superior when we know it's insecurity, it's most challenging. It's been so difficult to deal with, especially when I have 7 or more people/families who just moved into the neighborhood and they don't or can't reach out in any way. I miss the other neighbors who had to trade up home-wise because of a growing family. I realize that we met during a time when matters were more positive in the world, but I miss them so much. We keep in touch but because of the children and vaccination requirements not being for young ones, we only make technical contact. Plus, I do believe I've been ghosted a couple of times but that's easier to let go of. You did an excellent job of putting it all into words. Thank you so much! Peace, Light & Love
