Louisiana Winter Fishing - 1/2 Day Non-Stop Bite!

Спорт

Here’s a link to a KZread Short I made with a quick 1 minute view of the big redfish action from this day …
• What a Day!! Catching ...
An awesome Friday in mid-January, 2022!
Choupique Bayou in Sulphur, Louisiana.
LONG video but full of action - especially about 10 minutes into the video with some non-stop big redfish catches.
Air temps around 68 to 72 degrees; light winds; end of falling tide and into beginning of rising tide. Water temps right at 60 degrees. Water pretty clean for that area (doesn’t get nearly as clean as the main Lake Calcasieu).
Most fish caught in about 4 to 6 feet of water.
Using DownSouth jigs with chartreuse tail on 1/8oz jig head. Also caught a few trout on the Matrix Minnow suspended jerk bait.
Launched at 10am and fished only to just before 3pm - so a very quick, action filled 1/2 day.
Hope the length of the video doesn’t keep folks from watching… and special thanks to my “hardcore” viewers who watch the entire thing!!! I love your enthusiasm and I believe you will enjoy all the way through.
Thanks for watching and any comments.
Hope to see you with another one soon!!
Happy winter fishing!

Good video. Been awhile but I used to fish that area alot. Certain times of the year the flounder fishing is decent east of the bridge. Someone told me the other day the boat launch is about to close because they are selling the land. Hopefully not. Good luck to you.

Thanks a lot. I hope we all have the chance to get out there more in the future. I heard about the potential sell of the land as well. Praying they continue to allow launching … and maybe include some camping spots. Thanks for the report and for watching.

It’s an Old Town Topwater PDL 10.6. 2018 version. They have since changed this versions name to the Sportsman. They make a 10’6” and a 12” along with several other good kayaks. I have a full review in a previous video posted about 2 years ago including modifications. Hope you will check it out. I will try to attach a link. Best, most bang for the Buck kayaks on the market in my opinion. ZERO issues over 4 years and at least 3,000 hours. kzread.info/dash/bejne/YnyGpJmkndmykrA.html

It’s a long bayou coming off the Intracoastal Waterway at the North end of Lake Calcasieu in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Not many boats come through there due to lots of shallow spots and a bit tricky to read. But some deep spots as well. Choupique Bayou.
