    Wow, man. Those babies can go LOW with absolute total ease while still maintaining extreme detail, and the other instruments are still in check and where they should be. Vocals and guitars are so realistic sounding. The story behind them is wonderful too. Whoever ends up with a pair of those, is one lucky SOB!

    Thanks Mike , I tried to get that question answered & was more confused by the answer I got . I own 4 ohm speakers because it was a gift from a very good friend . At the time I was more into working out & enjoying my youth than listening to wisdom from a friend .When you are young it’s easy to not appreciate things around you . This guy had enough gear to open a shop . Anyway life is great & I’m grateful to people the take the time to help others . Peace out ✌🏿

    Oh I see it now. Let me try to rephrase it . Rule of thumb. Buy an amplifier with twice the power your speakers can handle RMS (NOT Peak power handling) Never turn your amp volume past half way. These 2 things alone will insure you are hearing amp and speaker at their best. Next rule of thumb. If you want speakers that will match with many amps, buy 8 Ohm and 90dB plus on sensitivity. 4 OHM 86dB speakers will restrict you to 10% of the number of amps the 8 Ohm 90dB will

    Not whatsoever. General rule of thumb for matching amps with speakers. Use more power in the amp than you'll ever need. This means it never operates over half volume. This is the sweet spot for an amp and where it makes the least distortion. Generally speaking Tubes like higher sensitivity 8 ohm speakers. General rule of thumb, buy a Jeff Rowland Class AB amp any age and you'll never need to concern about speaker matching again. does not been buy a decrepit abused model, and the newer the better for sure , but its the safest amp buy youll ever make. If you want to restrict options in the interest of keeping it safe dont buy 4 Ohm speakers.

    I remember standing by the pizza window at Del Cor Pizza on Venice beach smelling the Pizza and not having $3 to my name to buy a slice. I was 22 years old. I stayed at a buddies place until I got hired at a record store and rented an RV in someones yard for $100 per month. I rode a borrowed bike to work until I had saved $350 to buy a 1973 Honda CB 360 kick start, except it was 1990. My sole source of transportation for the next year . until I hustled up like $950 to buy a 1973 Datsun 240z in orange. Now I could get the chicks. Drove that for a few more years until I got so sick of not having dough that I took on a door to door peddling gig. Ad in paper read "Rock N Roll Atmosphere"/ $500WK. Next 6 years of my life were the most fun craziest unbelievable story line crap you've ever heard. I was a damn rock star. And a complete greedy, selfish Jerk. I had money now but that just meant a bigger grip in my pocket , still nothing in the bank.. want to know the funny part.? Drove a Porsche... Thats what a clueless bozo I was. I thought I had the world fooled. As long as I had the right props I didnt need money in the bank.. I even borrowed money to buy a Versace outfit and rented the freaking Versace shirt from my landlord so I would look rich. He was faking it too. Sad sad lost Mikey. All my clothes and CDs and stereo and TV and Motorcycle helmet and leathers got stolen one day. My ass was chumped. So I quit drinking Alcohol. Best thing Ive ever done for myself. I was still a $9 per hour bitch though. So I ate crow. 4 years forward, and Im much better spiritually but here in ATL making $600 per week selling Italian motorscooters. I started to put together a small rig with a Denon receiver. one of my old peddling buddies worked for a california amplifier company. I bought a big daddy 6 channel amp when lightning hit my apartment and toasted my denon and whole rack. I got a settlement much larger than what I had paid so I was off to the races. I got stopped at speaker wire. The gotta be effing crazy I thought. The motor scooter company closed and I took a stupid retail job across the street since there was a sign in the window and it was easy enough. $300 a week.. at a stupid retail job. This was 18 years ago. I decided to buy a spool of 4 conductor copper crappy wire in PVC so I could get the price break and make my own cables then try to sell the rest off as this Bi-Wire thing I just read about.. I ebayed it off and it worked .. I did it again, and it worked. again and again , simultaneous auctions with different lengths . 3 weeks in I was beating my stupid $300 per week job. So I quit it to embrace cable auctions. I expanded to interconnects. 2 months in I started a company and named it after my grandmother Vera. I figured the respect may give me some juice from heaven, where I thought she was. 2 months later, I sold my prized possessions a Ducati and a Triumph on order to buy thousands of feet on spools of Boeing surplus aviation wire which is silver plated copper in teflon. Just so happens to be killer for audio as well. before long I was a hotrod on Audiogon. Back in the Good ole days when Audiogon was still a small community. Audiogon gave me proper legs and last year I was awarded a Patent for audio connector design and my cables have a cult following across the globe. I have a GED and I compete with physicists. I still feel like the kid. Its crazy, but one thing for sure is I believe I can create whatever I want if me of all people has made it this far. Its too unlikely to be coincidence. Albert you must realize you are what you think you are. If you can blindly believe you are more , then as Funkadelic says "free your mind and your ass will follow" If you blindly believe you are already a wealthy guy, your reality will follow. I had to fake my belief in myself when I was a peddler to get up the courage to face all the negativity I got on a daily basis, so I acted like where I wanted to go. Your ass will follow my friend. Stop telling yourself you cant afford hifi and pretend you totally can, truth is where theres a will theres a way and by golly I am total living proof of this. You are too into this mentally to not attract it. Ive been too broke to eat on my own. How theres a crazy rig in a house I own Ive got no idea man, I just worked hard and visualized greatness. I do the right thing and treat other as i want to be treated. why I think my crazy Tribe Idea will work ? Because I truly intend to stoke any one that buys from me. I have the power to make it happen for them on whatever level. I will be the guy I wanted as a source when I was coming up in HiFi.. Ill be the most appreciated HiFi seller that I can imagine. It is as simple as this brother .. So... check up from the neck up. If you continue to think the way you've always thought , you'll continue to get what you've always got. Hope you can recognize that Im coming to you like this out of understanding and desire to nudge you off the story line you dont realize you wrote, and can rewrite. You will have a killer big rig one day for sure if thats what you want.

    What's the story with those speaker cable elevators? To protect cables or a carpet from....what?

  • @OCDHIFiGuy

    @OCDHIFiGuy

    4 жыл бұрын

    First it dissipates static electricity picked up from carpets or dry air, next a cable on the floor when it's a concrete slab will be affected by the slab. Same reason you cant store a car battery on the concrete garage floor. And it keeps them in the same, clea properly routed configuration.

  • @temp7774

    @temp7774

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@OCDHIFiGuy Sorry but that story about static dissipation from a carpet or dry air doesn't hold unless the isolation on a cable itself is rubbish (or cable is "naked"). Those hi-end ones that you sell definitely do not need it, Household electricity (i.e in floor, wall etc.) should be even better isolated so the only interference on speaker, RCA, balanced etc. cables may eventually come from a gear itself, such is their placement right beside a transformer, monitor, tv etc. Still proper cable insulation on any cable has to do a job. These cable elevators do not hold against basic physic and electronic rules and laws properly applied to a communication cable. They look interesting but without any functional merit.

    The Kef LS50 speakers. Has no port for louder cleaner sound. Plastic cabinet tone isn't as good as natural wood. The too wide cabinet doesn't image as good. Metal drivers, instead of natural paper, can be harsh. Anything stuck in the middle of a tweeter takes much space area away from the woofer. Small woofers have less distortion than bigger woofers. The Kef first order crossover is best. PSB knows how to build a tall speaker right. PSB has a tall speaker that has 4 separate same size woofers, with 4 natural paper woofers, in 4 separate chambers, with a 4 way crossover, with 4 ports, in a natural wood cabinet. PSB aint stingy to make a cabinet right. All tall speakers should be built like tall PSB speakers. A large speaker with no chambers in the cabinet sounds terrible
